The Penny Arcade today deals with the issue of Star Wars re-releases

Aside from the lulz, what are people's thoughts about this issue? For myself, marketing ploys like this are exactly why I hold off on buying physical media unless I know it's worth it/definitive. I remember reading the Princess Bride sophomore year and wanting to wait two years to buy my own copy for my collection because there was a "50th anniversary" reprint advertised in my book. I feel like this kind of thing is good business, but not a very good practice from a franchise with such a long-term and devoted fanbase.
Although I'd definitely spring for that aerosol Star Wars if they had it. :P
