Preliminary discussions are underway and the author has not yet been signed. What would you like to see included in a Star Wars: Essential Guide to the Underworld?

Posts: 6887 Jan 13 11 4:03 PM	In my reading of Fatal Alliance, I've been struck by the use of Black Sun - and I know the KOTOR comic series used some version of them as well. I'd love to see some kind of history of that organization through the centuries.

I do think the idea is fabulous and I await much new details on the HUTTS and BLACK SUN which will make me happy.... but I can see this basically being Essential Guide to Bounty Hunters. I'd like for more information on the BH Guild, and I hope they can explore factions like drug smugglers, sentient being traffickers and things like that as well. Also, perhaps this book will tell us what happened to Droma and the Ryn Network. They kind of, sort of fit into the underworld classification.

Posts: 52 Jan 13 11 5:20 PM	This might be some of the first printed material outside the manual to give credence to Tyber Zann's big conglomeration. I could use a bit more canon information regarding him and the extent of his true influence. I really can't see myself buying this unless I pick it up on discount or secondhand. I love smuggler's, honestly I do. When I read that Nar Shaddaa had been decimated by the Vong, I was more upset than I was over any other planet (or moon). That place was one of those I always thought I would be found hanging out if I lived in the GFFA. However, crime orangizations in Star Wars seem interchangable. What really is the difference between the Zann Consortium and Black Sun or the Hutt Cartel? If writing a story about some good guys breaking up a gang of criminals, would it matter drastically if the author used any of these organizations? Sure, I want to know what's canon, and who the major players were and when, but hopefully if the publishers want to sell this to me, they will include some historical, ancient players that can make the Underworld as incredible to read about as the Sith Empire. That will take more than a reference guide, I would assume.

Hm, well... thinking in Essential Guides terms, I assume Han Solo and Lando Calrissian will each get a chapter dedicated to their own networks (which will give us various resistance groups, gamblers, pirates and smugglers). It would be nice to get a map of smugglers' holes in the era between RotS and Vector Prime, maybe some "reach" maps with such personalities as Xizor, Jabba, Karrde and the like. Maybe some bios on Xizor, Jabba, Karrde and similar figures would be cool. Jammies says she'd like to see how the Sith Empire influenced various underworld groups (such as those shone in the Bane trilogy) and how various organizations are related (what split off to form what faction, etc.). On a similar note... I'm sure TOR will get plenty of attention. Some sort of throughline of the Hutts, from the Yuuzhan Vong invasion through to Fate of the Jedi. Information on Talon Karrde Post-NJO. Anything. At. All. Confirmation that he is Ben's godfather (sorry, hold-father) is also a must. Information on exactly who those bounty hunters from Outcast were. A history on Black Sun, from its inception and creation through to Legacy. Information on the Zanibar. These guys hijack slave ships, harvest the organs of sentient beings and sacrifice them. Sentient being traffickers. They classify as underworld. Zann Consortium. Jorj Car'das. Booster Terrik. Shug Ninx, Salla Zend, Mako Spince, Lando, Han. All those smuggler dudes from New Rebellion. DRUB MCKUMB! Bothan Spy Network Czethros Spice mines of Kessel. Moruth Doole. Some sort of info on which groups are active in what Eras and what they do (cook glitterstim in their glitterstim labs, gut Sullustans, whatever). Kinda like a chronology of the underworld, but not like the Chronology. What? I'm not asking for much.
