Anyways, I came in here to tell you that NBC has ordered an addition 9 episodes to make it a full season. The Death Star: So Named Because Living On It Means Almost Certain Death.

Posts: 5917 Oct 19 10 12:21 PM	Undercovers got an order of 6 additional scripts, don't know if that will come to anything. Chuck is rumoured to have the back 9, but we're waiting for confirmation of it. And almost predictably, Outsourced and Law and Order LA both got full season orders. The Death Star: So Named Because Living On It Means Almost Certain Death.

Posts: 16140 Oct 19 10 1:22 PM	Ugh... Outsourced is terrible. It's officially off my DVR list. But this is the wrong thread for that. I still retain my original comment questioning the longevity of a show like The Event; it can only go so far before it just becomes contrived and ridiculous.

I certainly don't want a repeat of Lost, where I was literally seasons behind. I actually like Outsourced, and feel like that type of show is needed, especially if The Office disappears after this season.

Posts: 1086 Oct 20 10 4:45 AM	The Event has been great so far - sort of reminds me of the 4400 in a way. I don't think they're "aliens," just humans from the future who've had to evolve in order to adapt to whatever this forthcoming "Event" turns out to be (could be some sort of world-wide virus or plague and these people are here to try to prevent it). I don't see any other scenario that makes sense at this point. I've been trying to keep up with Undercovers. The pilot was great, but the last few episodes haven't been too compelling. I stopped after the third episode.

Posts: 16140 Oct 25 10 9:05 PM	Well, there went the "not aliens" theory. Someone on this show is a fan of DS9 now that Rosalind Chao and Salome Jens have guested. But I no longer have any predictions or understanding about what this show is going to lead toward.

Says Deadline: Word is that now The Event will return earlier in the Monday 9 PM (Eastern) slot, possibly on March 7 with a 2-hour debut. Posts: 16140 Mar 7 11 8:32 AM	I'm super pumped for this, but all the promos are making me a little confused... I thought the big thing in the first half of the season was that they were developing all this technology and stuff and trying to push forward earth tech to the point where they could get home. Now, though, the commercials are acting like it was never their intention to get home because earth is the home they were trying to get to in the first place. I'm not sure I follow the logic and I hope it's something they use to make a little more sense in tonight's episode...

Posts: 1086 Mar 8 11 11:38 AM	Not sure if you saw last night's double-episode, but I'll try and answer anyway; at first it seems they were trying to get home, advancing Earth technologically in order to get there, but somewhere along the way Thomas (son of Sophia) got restless and decided to split from Sophia. Him and his girlfriend apparently decided that humanity should serve them (whatever species they happen to be) instead of the other way around. Mya made it sound like they had originally traveled here to help humanity, or at least "leave our society intact", and according to Michael, the pilot who flew the plane and father of the two girls, they came to Earth seeking a new home, since their own planet could no longer sustain life. So pretty much what we have at this point is 2 opposing factions -- Thomas's side, which plans to bring more of their people to Earth in what I think we can now safely assume will be an invasion of sorts, and Sophia, who seems to have good intentions toward humanity and who still seems to want to carry out their original mission, whatever that is. Somehow, this "Event" figures into the whole purpose of them being here, but again, we've gotten no hints or even mentions of what this might be since the pilot. I still think the show has promise. There are a couple other little side plots that are intriguing, especially this Dempsey fella who seems to be extracting whatever allows the daughters of these aliens to age at such a slow rate for his own uses. That scene at the end there when he was standing over that board was pretty cool. I'd like to know what that thing was. At this point, I'm not as interested in getting answers as most people seem to be. The show just started back up again so I really just want a decently compelling story to follow. There don't seem to be a lot of good shows left these days...

Posts: 16140 Mar 8 11 12:31 PM	Yeah, I'm starting to think that the promos were misleading, that they were, in very Yuuzhan Vong style, no longer able to be supported by their own home and instead began looking for alternatives. Earth seems to work well for them, if not for the native population (as it always seems to be). That said, I still feel like we're being lead to a revalation that these aliens are actually the originiation of all life on earth to begin with... that would explain why their DNA is so similar. If 6000 years ago their spawn began the earth population, that's a long time for them to adapt to the planet and their DNA make-up to change just slightly enough and lose their abilities. Because we've seen the promos talks about how THEY were the ones that built the pyramids and all the other great wonders and they weren't just taking over earth, they were taking it back. Which just seems contradictory to what their original mission was of seeking a new home... unless it's just that they hoped the population of earth would have died out by this point so they were just checking in? Also... the big giant portal window creator... don't you think someone would have found that on Google earth - it's a pretty large target even if they are in a remote location

I confess to not having seen many of the commercials/promos for the Event since before the original 10 episodes aired, but I don't remember anything like that being hinted at in the show yet, nothing even close to that. If so, it would be a huge development regarding the origins of these people. Or maybe I'm just reading your post wrong? But I like your conjecture regarding "the origin of all life", that doesn't sound too bad. Sort of reminds me of the premise for Stargate, but the other way around (how all the myriad planets in the galaxy were colonized by humans originally taken from Earth).
