I'm not sure was it on NJOE, EU Cantina, TFN etc, but I did read that they are at least thinking of the possibility of making it part of the X-Wing -series. Plus, Bantam and Del Rey are part of the same company.

I think it's been obvious that Aaron likes working with the normal folk of the GFFA more than the Jedi, and I'd really rather see him back in his comfort zone doing something he loves (even if he totally deserves the hardcover rates that workingon the multi-book series usually lock in), so I hope if comes out in HC becuase I will buy this in every format not just to support Aaron but to make sure DR gets the message that we want more than just the Big Three (which some there don't seem to believe). I'm hoping it will be set closer to the period of the original novels; after all, most fans will be wanting to read about the characters they loved from the original books. Most of them appear later on in NJO, but we've had no mention of Runt since Solo Command, for example. I'm also keen to know if Allston's going to reunite them with Wedge. He loves writing Wedge, so I have hopes for that. As has been said, during the time of Tatoonine Ghost, Wedge was said to be on a mission with the Wraiths, even though he was no longer a regular part of the team at that point. And we know how good Wedge is at creatively interpreting his orders, so I'm sure he could end up back with the Wraiths if he felt it necessary. This really is great news. I've heard speculation that this is that infamous Ackbar v. Paelleon battle that fleet junkies are always hard for - from the POV of the Wraiths. I believe it's the battle where Paelleon gets the Chimera or something. Of course, this could just be the speculation of said hardened fleet junkies... but this book is being touted as something the fans have wanted for a long time, and that is a subject that I know I've seen many discuss A LOT. So... could fit? I think it'd be cool, I'd be down for it. A little pre-NJO action is always cool.

But agreed, I'd rather they not go into the NJO/post NJO realm with this - these types of book were always more exciting based in the pre-NJO era, and it seems like that's always where Allston has liked to write them, when they're all in their prime. I can't say I very much liked reading about an older Wedge and that gang in the LOTF era. It wasn't as exciting as it was in Warlord/Imperial era. Edited 1 time by S1thari Aug 15 10 11:49 PM.

I only hope Mr Allston manages to hold that jizz in his pants so he can finish Conviction first. I'm also betting that we see LaraKirney and Myn sail off in to the sunset to create that shipping business we got an offhand mention of in Betrayal.

It was also long speculated that the only way they could cover Dark Empire in book form would be to do an X-Wing book and tell it from that point of view. Either way, I'm very happy about this news. I was one of those fans who always wanted to see more in this series (and no, Max, I wouldn't mind seeing a return of the classic logo - and actually HOPE they use it) - even when Starfighters of Adumar completely flopped for me. But I absolutely love the Wraith trilogy - I've read it twice. I may not have said this was a book I've been waiting a long time for, but it's a welcome one.

I dont think anybody knew he survived till he turned up in TCOPL. So unless they were going to do a book set inbetween the 3/4 wraith books which only cover a year at max then I dont think you need to worry. Something to do with Thrawn could be a possibility as that is a unknown time in terms of what the wraiths were doing I think NJOE survivor 2010 Runner up. There's something to be said for comical villains with occasional streaks of savagery that then kind of hit more harder than usual, but no more Zsinj either for me, please. If it's an Imperial, it deserves to die.

If the book IS about Pelly V Ackbar (even though there are zillions of other possiblities) there's nothing to say either of those two HAVE to show up. Everything could be told from the perspectives of the Wraiths, making the antics of Acky and Pelly all the more badass and legendary to be seen by the "average Joes."

Posts: 124 Aug 17 10 3:19 PM	When Shelley announced the Wraith Squadron book in the Del Rey panel, I could feel the fangasm rippling through the audience and through my own soul. Reading this thread, I find myself fangasming again. The Pelly/Acky confrontation, featuring our fearless humorists--do we ask too much of Allston? Perhaps, but we are so very hungry for awesomeness. With Pellaeon dead, I feel this adventure is owed to him. Allston could even delve into Mynar and Reige's pasts, and Pelly's relationships with them. If Wedge is also in this book, then may we also expect to see the Lusankya? All I know is, whatever the finished product is, so long as it has the words Wraith and Allston somewhere on the cover, it will totally be worth the wait.
