New info on the new Wolverine film...-Darren Aronofsky (as a reminder, he directed the Wrestler, and the Fountain, and the upcoming Black Swan) has confirmed his involvement.-The film will simply be titled "The Wolverine" (No "X-Men Origins" or "2" in the title.)-It will be a "One-Off" and "not a sequel in any conventional sense." In other words, it's a standalone that can be viewed seperately from and doesn't owe anything to the previous films.

Darren Aronofksy pulls out of The Wolverine
20th Century Fox and Darren Aronofsky have jointly announced that Aronofsky has exited as director of "The Wolverine". Aronofsky cited his unwillingness to be out of his home country for an extended period of time (up to 1 year). Here are their respective statements:
Aronofsky: “As I talked more about the film with my collaborators at Fox, it became clear that the production of ‘The Wolverine’ would keep me out of the country for almost a year. I was not comfortable being away from my family for that length of time. I am sad that I won’t be able to see the project through, as it is a terrific script and I was very much looking forward to working with my friend, Hugh Jackman, again.” Twentieth Century Fox: “While we are of course disappointed that Darren can’t do ‘The Wolverine’, we also understand and respect his reasons. Having done both ‘The Wrestler’ and ‘Black Swan’ with Darren, we know he is an extraordinary talent and we look forward to working with him on other projects in the future. Hugh Jackman and Fox both remain fully committed to making ‘The Wolverine’. We will regroup and move forward aggressively.”

As noted in the release, Fox says they plan to "regroup and move forward aggressively", but Inside Movies | EW says there is no short list of filmakers to take on the project, and with the disaster in Japan, the studio is said to be "in no rush" to find a replacement:
“I think we’re going to let it air out a bit before we approach another director,” says the source. “The one good thing, after losing Darren and what’s going on in Japan, is that we have a great script and the star attached and ready to go.” In fact, given that so many key elements are already in place, the source says it’s still possible that a new director could ramp up production on The Wolverine as early as this summer.
