I have gotta admire Del Rey's confidence these last couple of months. First off, they commission Joe Schreiber to do another horror novel BEFORE - indeed a couple of months before - Death Troopers is published. Now, based on how good they think Crosscurrent is, they're bagging Paul Kemp to do a sequel (or pseudo-sequel) FOUR MONTHS before Crosscurrent is actually published.

I would laugh so long and hard if the fandom totally hates Crosscurrent and/or Death Troopers.

I'm not saying we will - indeed, I cannot WAIT for Crosscurrent and DT seems to be a break from the norm if nothing else - but if the event occurs where we doi.... yeah, I'll laugh.

I.... don't really want to speculate thus far on the sequel, except to say that assuming Paul Kemp writes a very in-depth and exciting Jaden Korr, that in the sequel he is able to tap into another pre-existing character we know little about. Such as, for a wild example, that Derek dude from Invincible, or that Avonaom however-he-spelled-his-name from Abyss.
