I've heard mixed reviews so far. The majority seem to like it, though. I've got my alarm clock set, but don't get off work until 11 so I'll
most likely have to search for it online. Same with Fringe and Supernatural....
Speaking of which -- why isn't there a Fringe thread here? |

Just finished it. I think they're off to a great start so far, this plot is literally a writer's dream. There are so many possibilities and so many
different directions it could take from the pilot. I just hope the writers take full advantage of what they got going on here.
If anyone ever saw the miniseries 'Daybreak,' this show reminds me of that a lot. There's this random phenomena that occurs (in Daybreak, the main character kept living the same day over and over), and, eventually a huge conspiracy will start to unravel from there. There'll be mass chaos, panic, confusion as everyone either tries to jumpstart their "flash forward" or prevent it. I am excited to see where this goes. The guy in black in the baseball stadium at the end -- that was creepy. What sort of device, or natural ability, would it take to make the ENTIRE human race black out for 2 min 17 seconds and show them all glimpses of their futures?? |

In the novel (around which this series is very ver loosely based) its a combination of a solar flare (which they reference - and they pooh pooh away in the
pilot) and some scientific stuff I don't quite recall about finding some new particle.
Its quite clear the series will not go down this route, given that the book was a cast almost exclusively full of scientists and the TV show's cast is... not. OMG SONIA WALGER. SONIA WALGER IS IN THIS SERIES! Penelope Widmore FTW! I am very intrigued by the series, and although I don't really want to publicly admit this, it is shaping up to be better than the book. Better in terms of a more compelling series of events around the flash forward. OMG THIS SERIES ALSO HAS JOHN CHO. YOUNG SULU FTW. AND VOLDEMORT'S BROTHER. AND RUBY MARK 2 FROM SUPERNATURAL! Sorry for all the capitals, but you know I get excited about these sorts of things. I'm actually kind of hoping they DO NOT go down the "aliens did it" road, and I will tentatively say I do not believe that will ever be the case. I'm glad the series has picked up the novel's themes of free will V predestination and that element of human choice (people who were about to commit suicide do not based on their visions; people see thier future as really shitty so they DO commit suicide and therefore alter their future, etc) is present. I literally LOL'ed when the kangaroo bounded down the street in the immediate aftermath of the flash forward, as my first thought was, "Kangaroos get prime time on a wicked new TV series that veryone will watch = making me proud." Obviously, the kangaroo is a clue, but I haven't the foggiest what it means. I'm also intrigued when they will get around to following up and Charlie's comment of, "There are no more good days." I think that in time, this show will adequately fill the gap left by Lost. Though I will take this opportunity to curse myself because my brother was really keen on watching this, and then I (foolishly) said to him, "Oh yeah, this is totally gonna be the new Lost." He immediately looked at me like I made him eat poo (though I never did this when we were younger) and said, "Well, there goes that idea then." So I was all.... nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooo. I still haven't found out if he watched it yet. I hope he did. |

So, in one post, I discover Nom has a brother. ASII is scared now. One Nom is crazy enough, but two!?!?
Anyway, I was assuming that the "There are no more good days." line is referring to the fact that Charlie is sad because her parents split up. On the other hand, she wasn't in either parent's flashforward, so that may not be it. Plus it's way too obvious. It's like NCIS. You think you know who the killer is, but then there's an OMG twist at the very end of the episode, making said episode more awesome. But I disgress. Speaking of, why is there no NCIS thread in this forum? Not enough watchers? NOM'S AN EMU, DAMMIT!!! |

Okay, I know I've mentioned my brother before. You guys don't have a leg to stand on. You're obviously not paying enough attention. FYI, he
didn't get the craziness gene. Just me. He's basically my polar opposite. Uber-tall, jock, cool. All of which I am not.
But I digress. Also, yes, we need an NCIS thread. Make it. Now. Again with the digression. I think that the premiere packed a lot in and I know going into this I was all worried that they'd have so much in there I wouldn't be able to process it all. I'm glad I was wrong. A lot happened, but I feel as if I adequately consolidated it all in my head. I do hope as time goes on, they're able to widen the scope of characters so it isn't just basically FBI personnel and hospital people. Why can't we have an "average Joe" for once? Not that I'm complaing as FBI and medical characters would have access/reason to be in places or gain information that say, an accountant character would not have. I loved the visuals that came just after the flash forward such as all the surfers dead or unconscious in the waves, and the planes/helicopters crashed into the sides of buildings. Pretty strong visuals. And damnit, the more I think about it, the more I care about that kangaroo. What was it doing there? What does it mean? Can they feasibly pop a koala and an emu in there somehow? How creepy was that man in the stadium? |

Definitely excited about tonight's episode but due to work, I might not be able to see it until tmw online...unless I can find it somewhere else tonight.
I've watched the pilot about 3-4 times now. Anyone notice the Oceanic Airlines billboard? I'm not sure if someone already mentioned this here, they probably did. There are a few other "easter eggs" that I hadn't noticed before. Such as, the man in black sort of looks like the guy Olivia is hooking up with in her vision..... |

What a good episode. No kangaroos though...
Bummer for the Korean guy though. Not only does he find out that no FlashForward = death, but he also finds out when he's gonna die. And Charlie will not only get to know but care about Dylon, she will also have some sort of involvement with the mysterious D. Gibbons. It's like when we were "introduced" to Sylar in Season 1 of Heroes, but wasn't really introduced. He was basically the guy using just-revealed powers to murder everyone and take their powers. Very intriguing... NOM'S AN EMU, DAMMIT!!! |

And the plot continues to thicken...
I grow more intrigued by this show every week. I knew I was going to like it when I first saw the advertisements, but the way it's unfolding, it's so gripping. I'm beginning to think Charlie's vision is going to prove significant to this whole plot -- and I think it may be safe to say that it IS a plot, or a conspiracy at least, since they have a few suspects and a lot of evidence from the future. She said "D Gibbons is a bad man" at the end of the episode, the guy they've been trying to track down who made contact with the guy in the stadium. Both are somehow involved in the conspiracy. D Gibbons presumably stole DeeDee Gibbons' identity and is using it to get around undetected. I'm excited to see what else Charlie saw in her vision -- she knew the little boy Olivia saved, and she'd never seen him before. So how can she know about D Gibbons AND the little boy? Did her vision involve both of them? If so, what are the implications of that in relation to the boys' father? Demetri finds out from some (possibly) foreign intelligence operative that he's going to die March 15, 2010, and what intrigued me most about this was the fact that she said "murdered", meaning they probably don't know by then who kills him... meaning, he'll somehow glean valuable intel about the conspiracy -- information he's not supposed to have, stuff that could possibly expose whoever's behind it -- and will be killed because of it. Just like his partner. But we still don't know if he dies or not. Also, about this guy Olivia is supposed to hook up with -- it showed him getting out of bed to make a "phone call". Did that strike anyone else as suspicious? It did for me. I don't know why, but the way he said it and the way he went downstairs... the way he looks up at her when he's on the couch... that guy is creepy. And how would he not have recognized her? She says in the vision that when he turned to look at her from downstairs, the vision ended, but it looked like he might have caught a glimpse of her....plus, he was in bed with her before he got up. Wouldn't he have seen her then, or was his back turned the whole time? Maybe he doesn't recognize or react to Olivia because he didn't have a vision.... And when are they going to introduce Dominic M? So many damn questions.....

So... another good episode, with a bit of humor (And we gave the world Brittney Spears. I loled at that)
So, as we all know, Nazis are total bastards, even if they are old as dirt. To go off topic, do any other tv shows on now use ex-Nazis in plotlines? Anyway, this episode further proved this, and gave us dying crows. And it turns out something similar happened before. In Africa! In the Deserted Town of Utter Creepiness to be exact. I'm guessing raining crows are not common occurences there. And what was that at the end anyway? I'm assuming the kid was one of the dead agents son. Does this mean his mother's gonna die? Chances are, if she dies, it will be connected to everything else. And Dmitri's (Korean Guy) wife apparently saw him, or someone who looked like him, in her vision. How does that work out? Finally, guy-with-dead-daugher-in-FF's daughter is still dead. I am assuming the dead one or the live one is an imposter. Anyway, I enjoyed this episode. You? NOM'S AN EMU, DAMMIT!!! |

Sons of Anarchy is using the Neo-Nazi/white hate gang plotline this season. Makes for a great villain.
Haven't seen FlashForward tonight yet - still at work - but definitely will when I get home and will post some thoughts. |

Yeah, I'm still sort of struggling with the whole crow thing. At the end, I sort of got the feeling that whatever happened to the crows in the past was a
test run of sorts for the black-out. What was that cloudy arc in the sky? And what the heck was that creepy tower thingy?
Yeah, it's weird that Demetri's wife supposedly saw him in her FF. I'm not sure she did, though -- although she says she did, when she was describing it and we saw it, she was walking toward the ceremony, and we never actually saw Demetri. How is it possible that she sees him when he's supposed to die a month beforehand? More to the point, who was she about to marry?? About the guy with the "dead" daughter -- I'm guessing she's definitely still alive. In his FF, it shows her lying somewhere, and it looks like she's missing her left arm. In the premiere, the guy said he had to identify her remains, which was only an arm and a leg I believe. I'm guessing they only found those amputated limbs and assumed she was dead. Too bad Charlie wasn't involved in this episode, but I sort of knew they weren't going to reveal any more details about her FF until later. I'm guessing whatever she saw will prove pretty significant in the episodes to come...

I think we need to remember that we have yet to see anyone's FULL flashforward. Recall that the FFs went for just over 2 minutes. We have yet to see
anyone's in full.
To go off topic, do any other tv shows on now use ex-Nazis in plotlines? Its not current, but the X-Files did. More than once, IIRC. I do think there has to be some significance of birds and animals in general. Crows, kangaroos awesomething themselves down city blocks and that sparrow or whatever it was flying into the window.... I think animals are some sort of clue to this. Did animals black out as well? I don't think so. Wouldn't he have seen her then, or was his back turned the whole time? Maybe he doesn't recognize or react to Olivia because he didn't have a vision.... The way they filmed the FF supports what Olivia says. He was never actually looking at her when they were in bed, and the reason he wouldn't have seen her when she was at the top of the stairs is because she is looking directly down at him. Whereas he would not only have to turn around, but look up to see her. Since she has the advantage in terms of physical location, she can see Lloyd's face when he turns to her, but Lloyd can't see Olivia's. |

True, but if the theory that Lloyd IS involved in the conspiracy turns out to be true, then he wouldn't have blacked out, and thus, wouldn't have had
an FF. Although the way he is acting when he's at the hospital, it seems like he's not apart of it. We'll see. The possibilities are endless.
