Cripes, Jo, I thought you were a girl.
Well, you can call me a
girl the next time you want to spread rumors about me, if it makes you feel better.
And know that I'm fairly embarrassed.

You are greater than the Jedi of former days.
Because unlike the Knights of old, Jedi Luke Skywalker... You are not afraid of the dark. |

Probably not. Though I'm sure it would be rather incriminating.

I was going to say, how does no one remember that he was with Akanah, Luke's old flame!? Definitely the Fallanassi, not the Aang-Tii.

I believe one is mentioned, but I don't know if they're going to get there on time.
Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. The Force shall free me. |

New review at this blog: http://www.graemesfantasybookreview.com/2009/06/omen-star-wars-fate-of-jedi-christie.html
I think this was one of the ones really down on Outcast, and he's definately more excited by Omen.

The next port of destination will be the maw for the Skywalkers, that is where they left the cliffhanger. I don't know about you guys, but I get the
feeling this book set up something to happen in the Hapes area with the jedi base still being there. We may see the death of a major character. IMO, it is
going to be Kyp, Tahiri, or Tenel Ka. I do believe they are setting up the imperial knights with Tahiri and Kyp. The rival jedi school. With Jaina being the
Baroness of the New Empire.

I don't think that Tenel Ka will die (except if Allana is on the backcover of Backlash, then I will take that claim back) but Tahiri and Kyp (plus Raynar)
are very likely candidates. Kyp seems like the perfect sacrifice, relatively major but for a long time little used character, whose death will count as a big
event, but won't produce a negative response at the same level as that of Anakin and Jacen's. One could say the same about Tahiri, who also killed
relatively popular character in the old Imperial war criminal Pellaeon, and you usually can't be redeemed and survive after killing a relatively major
established "good" character, it's redemption and a heroic death for you, and a delayed case of that could well hit Tahiri. When it comes to
Raynar, I think that he has been brought back to give ammunition to Daala. Denning spared him once - probably just because it was already decided that Jacen
would be killed, the prototype of LotF Jacen, Bug Raynar got to live - but might well kill him now.
I would like Tahiri especially to survive, and don't want to see Kyp dying either. I don't particularly like any major or major supporting character to die in Denning's novels, because of his habit of mutilatiion and prolonged, agonizing deaths. Well, perhaps he could write Ben's death scene eventually, I would be ok with that... One Jedi character I expect to die sooner than later in FotJ is Kenth Hamner, who appears to have been made into a Jedi version of Borsk Fey'lya. First bumbling and then a heroic death. I do hope that Denning doesn't give the suicide bombing to us a third time, but kills Hamner in some different way. Odds for their deaths in Abyss and Backlash in my opinion: Tahiri 75 %, Kyp 50 %, Raynar 50 %, Hamner 50 % (but 99 % before the end of FotJ), Tenel Ka 10 %. Of course, there's a black horse candidate to a major death in Abyss. The lady in the cover. Leia. I give her chance to die as 10 %.

Is it confirmed that someone will die? Or is it all assumptions?

I'd give Leia and Luke exceptionally high odds to die, considering they are Big Three Characters. I'd say Leia 30% Luke 10%. But Tahiri or Kyp- I
can't see their deaths as contributing to an "Abyss". TK wouldn't fit either. Hamner possibly, but I doubt Raynar will die on his return.
This is how twenty-five millenia come to a close. Corruption and treachery have crushed a thousand years of peace. This is not just the end of a
republic; night is falling on civilisation itself.

I could see this happening with Daala maybe. I don't think any of the "Big Three" will die in any book but maybe 8 or 9. A possible death could be Cigail or another Darkmeld member.

Everyone here seems rather set on a Jedi dying. Honestly, I think the most compelling and interesting death right now would be that of Daala via a psychotic
Jedi. There would DEFINITELY be a backlash for that for the Jedi.

That is an interesting idea. It may have some truth behind it but I don't think in this book maybe in 6 or 7.

LOL, I don't know why but I was totally fascinated by the Black Fleet Crisis (lame as those books were), which is why I clearly remember Akanah being part
of the White Current and shacking up with Luke at the end of one of the books. :P

Jaina SoIo wrote:I LOVE the Black Fleet Crisis books. Even the Lando sub-plot that went nowhere (if only because of LOBOT and the droids being around and part of the plot), but I meant I couldn't spare the mental energy to remember if the OP was correct or not. My point was that he could have just seen them first and gone back latter to meditate with them. I'd be surprised if Jacen didn't criss-cross the galaxy a few times in five years learning and relearning and comparing Force Orders. |
