Now you know how in Highlander, THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE! Well, in Star Wars, ALWAYS TWO THERE ARE. Now, who are these two options for our budding holo-stars in the times of the Rebellion? Well, I shall tell you. 1. Garik "Face" Loran 2. Syal "Wynssa Starflare" Antilles, senior. Either option is like the sweet smell of roses after being force-fed compost. As insanely AWESOME as it would be to have a Face or Wynessa Starflare novel, Reaves has shown a preference for original characters. But one must always hope... Posts: 13966 Sep 30 08 1:51 AM	Michael Reaves has also handled Darth Vader/Anakin, Dal Perhi, Darth Maul, Barriss Offee, Darth Sidious, Gregar Typho, Grand Moff Tarkin, Prince Xizor, Aurra Sing... All NOT original characters, all having a crucial role in his various books and all well-known pre-existing characters. He's also dealt with things like Death Star prototypes, destruction of Caamas and human replica droids, all pre-existing well-known EU constructions.... Even if we jettison all that, there's always a first for everything. Why create an entirely new no name character when what Sue describes can fit easily into a character that already exists and has many people asking after her (Syal) or could easily be tweaked a little to cover another (Face). Couple that with the overwhelming evidence that this new contract seems geared to giving us exactly what we want because they screwed us in portions of the last one, and I'd say evidence is high this relates to Face or Syal. How many people here want a book on the Fels? How many people here would actually complain if this was on Face? Not many, if at all, I'd wager. This contract seems all about "Fans WIN" and this would factor into that argument.

While Reaves has used existing characters and locations - I'd point out that both have mostly been used as background in those novels. These weren't main characters (exception Maul - who was mostly a blank slate and dead in the continuity anyway) - his 'main' characters tend to be original creations. That said, Syal IS very much a blank slate, and her romance with Baron Fel makes for a very intriguing novel - especially if she was doing some spy work for the Rebellion but ultimately chose to follow her heart. That means my fave character, soontir, may make an appearence. If they did then we would get BOTH of them which would make this one of my favorite stories ever. Even if they didn't, there is no reason why there cannot be cameos from other actors/actresses...

Good potential conflict. Which is what I was going for. For such a loved/well known character, there's still so much that is UNKNOWN. This could also be a possible way to give us much needed information on Cherith, Davin and Cem Fel, and also give us more Jagged and Soontir, and perhaps even some Chiss randomness. If it goes that far (timeline-wise, that is). Also: Wedge-ness. Which is a bonus.

Syal seems to obvious choice with Garik and the other guy (Phennir?) putting in appearences.
