Posts: 124 Feb 1 09 5:58 PM	Thanks to Acky12 for pointing me to this thread. I can't understand what kind of horror novel can be created from Star Wars. From the cover, I would say that there will be some fairly gruesome Stormtrooper murders. I'm usually open to this stuff. I have pretty ecclectic tastes in reading and have read horror stories before, but I don't know...although, I will say that the cover art is rather cool. I suppose we'll just wait and see. I guess there's some method to this madness, but I'm not sure this is the best way to go, bringing out every book as a hardcover. I'm sure it's good news for those of you who like conformity on your bookshelves though. Still, I can't imagine your wallets are all that happy about 9 FotJ hardcovers, Darth Bane and now Deathtroopers. I don't know what that converts to in the American dollar and I don't care, I just wanted you all to know how much it costs me so you can feel sorry for me. I'd also like to point out that it seems like they're keeping the plot/characters of Deathtroopers close to their chest and I suspect we won't hear anything about this (apart from a blurb of course) until people start getting early copies.

All I know is that when this book hits the shelves I am planting my ass in borders and reading it all the way through while drinking tea and possibly a pastry. A luxary I was not able to do for LSATSOM.

And we don't even really have any clue whatsoever what this is about! Brilliant! I don't want to anger X and add to the debate (which, I agree, should be nixed here) but this does suck for people who can't splash out their cash for hardcovers. I say that because this book seems to be extremely unique for the EU in that we've never seen a hardcore, pure horror novel so far. I know that many people are attracted to this book for that reason alone, and that the author is proven in this field (horror, and indeed sci-fi horror). I wonder why this decision came about and why it was made so. I'd be very fascinated to find out how this was reached, but I'm guessing its either a boring answer or its super-duper awesome but one they can't discuss. I guess they think the EU's first official horror novel is worth upgrading to hardcover status.

Bring enough "new" fans in, even for one single book, and the sales will soar. Make it a hardcover and... well you know.
