Karpyshyn's blog confirms the production of a third novel about Darth Bane.
I'd begin speculating except Rule of Two's paperback isn't out yet.
When the world needs him, the warrior Fet'antilles will rise again from the grave.

This is good news. There's one thing I didn't like in RoT's plot, but that aside, Karpyshyn writes good Sith Lords with some of the Sith lore
included (unlike in certain series) and this new novel will explore utterly virgin territory, so there shouldn't be any canon re-writing this time. This is
the first novel in the new contract which I really look forward to in a positive way - I do look forward to the main FotJ novels, but only in the meaning of
wanting them to fail, catch fire and burn to ashes in their Empire and Ben glorification.

This is FANTASTIC news. For people who don't click the link, he claims it MAY come out in 2010 - which makes sense as we're already nearly booked with
our 2009 novels.
x-wingurly, based on your hopes for it, you will at least be pleased with 50% of Rule of Two (meaning one of your two requests is answered). And as Nom said in his review of the book, it has one of the best lightsaber battles EVER put to print in it. |

Saweet! thanks Kirr! Now I cannot wait to get my hands on Rule of two...
I cannot access the link (firewall) so I assume it will be a hardcover release like the other 2? |

Karpyshyn made two different posts about it, one in his own web page, the
other in his SW blog. No mention of the format, although I presume it will be a hardcover.

SWEET!!! *happy dances* I think Nom called RoT "2008's sleeper hit" and I agree. The Bane duology (or trilogy now, I guess) is one of my personal
favorites. And the lightsaber fight at the end is utterly awesome.
Drew has only written 2 novels, plus maybe something for Insider (not sure) and is KOTOR 1's writer (I think. I know he did something writer-wise for the game) and I already call him "Del Rey's Sith Author. Anakin Solo=BEST SW CHARACTER EVER

Okay, I admit I fangasmed when I read this announcement. I truly did, and for an ancient Old Republic novel, thats very unlike me. But I did. I fangasmed and
made no effort to hide it.
As was already pointed out in this thread, I do think Rule of Two is this year's sleeper hit. It's surprisingly well received with little fanfair and godddamnit, it made the Sith cool again. As Kirr also mentioned, it has what is arguably the BEST EVER lightsaber duel. Ever. And I'm NOT being hyperbolic. I truly believe it. Bane and Zannah are two of the most intriguing characters I've ever seen and Karpyshyn knows his Sith-age like nobody's business. And even though Jacen and Tahiri are so goddamn awesome they outstrip us of all our awesomeness... Bane and Zannah show them how it is really done. Compare Rule of Two with Invincible... no contest. As Rouge said, this novel will be exploring complete virgin territory, so lock up your daughters because I'd say that based on that alone, this novel may eclipse even Rule of Two. If we're really lucky and pray really hard, this may even answer the question as to Bane and/or Zannah's final fate, whatever that may be. That may nip any future installments in the butt, but hey, the final fate of Bane and/or Zannah alone may just be the price we have to pay. As I said.... fangasm. |

This makes me want to go out and borrow both books from the library.... Anyway, awesome! All the announcements lately! So many. 0_O Maybe Karpyshyn will say
something about this in the upcoming interview with him... although I doubt it.

Maybe this will end with Bane's death and Zannah taking on an apprentice- which I don't want for I like Bane, and yet I am intrigued at.

well, if Bane gets killed off, maybe Drew will do novels for other Sith. Like Andeddu. Or Ruin.

Or, after the "Bane Trilogy" he'll continue on with Zannah. But Andeddu or Freedon Nadd would also be cool.

You guys are making me want to not wait for RoT paperback any more.

Ah you've waited this long - it's due out, what, next month?
The real point is, it's most definately worth reading. The news of this third novel in the Bane series is probably my favorite of everything we've learned about the new contract so far. |

Wait. What is the big saber fight at the end? Don't go into details, just say who is in it.

Three (maybe more) Jedi - two Sith. Who'll come out alive? That's the problem with anything that takes place during the Golden Age, etc.- we already know that both Sith can't die, because we already know that Bane's order lasts 1000 years. That's why I usually wait for paperback in that era.

Well, only the established Sith won't die. Once we get past them we wouldn't know who dies and who has to train a new apprentice.
