^ Not to mention that they already paid to commission the cover and all of that work as well from an artist. LFL would lose a good chunk if Blood Oath were to
disappear.

Acky12 wrote: Yup. Although it's really DR that loses the cash because they're the ones who license the franchise and pay the writers and such. Especially this far in the process...there's been a lot of money put out by DR, so obviously they want to see the book happen, and (again) we don't know what the issues are, but the book is still in play, so we should be happy about that, at least. |

hell I am tickled to death at the possibility of BO still being released. I for one thought it was cancelled so I will still cross my fingers that this will
happen. I would love to have that cover of zekk to add to my book collection

Sue has shed a little more light on Blood Oath today at TOS:
Sue, WHY does the manuscript have to come in soon to avoid being canceled? We've already waited this long for it. I think we'd rather have the novel a year or more later than planned than not at all. If Zekk is to have a role in FotJ, and his appearance there was to happen a year or so before his stand-alone novel came out, it would be awkward for the characters in FotJ not to ask where he's been. And if his story comes out in FotJ in narrative, it wouldn't be nearly as captivating or dramatic as an entire novel. So if the Zekk book comes out much later than early next year, then it's just not going to be timely enough with regards to the FotJ series. and Ah, that's a shame. I wonder if you can tell us - was Zekk supposed to reappear in FOTJ much much earlier than, say, FOTJ 6 or so, since Blood Oath was originally supposed to be released at the same time as Outcast? I don't think I want to say right now... but as you can figure, it's taking some juggling and there has to be a cut-off point. |

Thanks, corax!
April 2010... So if the change to March for Allies is not included, no Zekk before it, and if it is, then no Zekk before Blood Oath 6? If I understood this correctly, in 43 ABY Zekk's survival is not known to the Jedi? And whether I did or not, either a)There has still to be an explanation for the other characters if Zekk has been officially missing the whole time, BO or no BO and b)There doesn't have to be any explanations if the characters in-universe know the events of BO. |

I'm wondering if Denning will somehow have to refer to this, or rather, totally skirt around it, given that a) He loves Zekk
b) Jaina is Zekk's BFF! c) Jag is now Zekk's friend (YAY to the power of INFINITY) d) The YJK always
totally have a party or get mind-frelled, or do something in his novels.
I bet Zekk was supposed to be a part of Darkmeld. Or show us with some crucial information re: Force psychosis. I'm glad that they are really striving to get this novel out there, and to gel the rest of FOTJ with it, which, as Sue hints at, is going to take a LOT of re-jiggling and extra work to meld the ongoing series with this delayed single title. What's that quote Yoda says about how his heart gets warmed when he finds out Padme survived the bombing? Yeah, well, that's the quote I attach to this! |

and his appearance there was to happen a year or so before his stand-alone novel came out, it would be awkward for the characters in FotJ not to ask where he's been. This makes no sense. If Zekk came back, all the "awkwardness" of the characters asking where he's been would have already happened upon his return... it would be weird/displaced to the readers, but then in the back all you have to do is throw an insert ad for BO saying "Want to know what happened in Zekk's missing years? Here you are then..."

I'm wondering if part of the tweaking they may choose to do for Blood Oath is extend its timespan (er.... in the novel itself that is) so that it
finishes at the same time that say.... Fate of the Jedi 6 begins, instead of having it end.... like Fate of the Jedi Abyss or whenever it was
originally supposed to finish.
But yes, I didn't actually think of Acky's point. I was too busy fangasming that they're trying so hard to make this novel work. It actually SHOULDN'T be awkward for the characters. All their, "OMG Where were you?"s can easily have happened offscreen and they can be totally sly about it and have Trista Zel (or is it Taryn) hanging around more than usual or Tenel Ka can be all, "I owe my kingdom and my life to my old friend - and now new bodyguard - Zekk" or Jag can be all, "Heh, you know that time when Zekk totally razzle dazzled the hell out of the Moff Council for being such a pack of douchebags" and although the READER would be all, "Um... hello, be kind, rewind" all we'd have to do is wait for BO. It could be all TENSION AND DRAMA so everyone wins. But I guess they're... not doing that. I don't know. I'm confused. |

MrNomAnor wrote:If Pelly and Daala and all sorts of people can come and go, then it shouldn't be too hard to explain where Zekk was. We know he won't die in BLOOD OATH since, you know, he's due to appear in FoTJ, so from a dramatic standpoint they wouldn't be doing anything they haven't done a thousand times before. We don't need to have things spoiled for us or for his entire story to be laid out. Actually, that's the same style of argument that says; "Well, we've seen LEGACY so we know how things turn out...why do we need the FoTJ series?" The journey is the thing, and it's not like they haven't done this sort of thing before. Look at the e-book A PRACTICAL MAN, which was really "Okay, now he's where all those Mandos who show up in TUF came from, and why". If anything, they should be able to ramp up the mystery and drama of; "Whoa! Zekk is all Billy Bad-Ass! How'd that happen!?! Where'd he get that scar, new limb, pet rancor, twin redhead handmaidens, etc?!?" and then just have a note saying; "Read BLOOD OATH to find out what happened to Zekk!" |

Something that's gotten me excited about this whole flow-walking kick is that it could present some cool opportunities to play around with the time-travel concept that's made LOST so damn interesting the last few seasons. Not a popular opinion, I know, but still intriguing to speculate. |
