I just look at it this way about them not mentioning Zekk from an in-universe perspective. Jaina and Jag are busy people with a crisis on their hands.
We've only really seen them in Outcast when they were either spending quality time together or when they were dealing with the matter at hand. For all we
know, in between the scenes we read she and Zekk could have gone out for a platonic burger and milkshake down the road from the temple.

EDIT BY MRNOMANOR: Hello. Don't USE OMEN SPOILERS OUTSIDE OF THE SPOILER THREAD. Don't ambiguously refer to spoilers. Don't allude to spoilers.
Don't use spoilers to illustrate a point about non-spoiler material. Don't use spoilers outside of the spoiler thread. Now, back to your regular post.
I think the best explanation is to say that Zekk was out on some surreptitious mission that would have forced him to either a) not make contact with the Jedi Order in order to keep his cover (this would require his mission to depend on the Jedi assuming he is dead), or b) to have one Master - the one who sanctioned it (sort of like Cilghal and Luke) - be in periodic contact with him. This could be loosely or directly connected to the Madness or whatever is going on in the Maw, or, in keeping with the original idea for BO, it could be connected to Hapes and its ostensible feud with the Empire.

Or Zekk is just plain dead, has been since Invincible, and the events in BO never happened. Seriously, if we would get the BO plot explained in FotJ it would
be one big infodump for any author to handle. I hope that isn't the case, but if BO has been cancelled, the reason might not be in BO itself, but in FotJ:
What if Zekk had a planned role in later FotJ - let's say as a big a bigwig as a male consort of the queen's cousin can have - but which would have
depended on events in BO, and that because he wasn't written in FotJ for some reason, that then BO had to be cancelled?
What comes to the religion stuff, no intent on my behalf to insult anyone, and apologies to those who feel that I did, but like in the case of the aforementioned religious figure, followers tend to wait for an imminent resurrection and then it just recedes in to the future, but people still expect and hope it to happen one day. Coming back to SW, in the RL I, like many others, looked towards the Clone Wars already in mid-1980s. Certainly 20 years ago most people would have probably told to their friends who were SW fans that they should just move on, find some other interest. And look where we are now?

I think my main problem is not where Zekk is or if he is alive or dead. My main problem is that Jaina of all people has no internal or external dialogue about
him one way or another. Come on a normal person think about people they care about. I think about my friends all the time. Wondering how their day is going
ect... So for Jaina to never have a passing thought about Zekk is odd and makes little sense to me.
It is sort of my pet peeve in the Star Wars universe. They often leave out important friendship interactions. For instance in Destiny's Way when Jacen comes back other than his immediate family he only hangs out with Danni. WTF......... no call or hang out time with to Tenal Ka or Zekk or Lowbacca. Friends he has had for years but he goes swimming with Danni. Even at the Knighting ceremony the author only has Jacen speak to Zekk briefly. It just seemed so odd to me. Not at all how friends really interact with one another especially if you thought someone had died and then was alive after all. So now with Zekk MIA you have Jaina his best friend not even giving him a passing thought. They need to fix this and at least have her think about him but not give the plot away.
"Pride is pretty sneaky", Jacen warned. " It disguises itself pretty well. I hope you'll have a long talk with Uncle Luke at some point.
Unless you don't think even he has anything to teach you". Jacen Solo to his brother, Anakin Solo , Conquest pg.286

Well, in Destiny's Way if memory serves me, Zekk and Lowbacca were at Kashyyk. In fact, I know Lowbacca was because he was in charge of Jaina's
squadron while she went to Mon Cal. Tenel Ka was Queen of Hapes and could only come to Mon Cal for the knighting ceremony. The reason Jacen hung out with Danni
was because she was the only one available. He wanted to hang out with Jaina, but she was avoiding him.

I'm not saying they had to COME see him but a simple call from friends would have been nice. Also on screen he didn't even SPEAK to any YJK's other
than Jaina and Zekk at the awards ceremony. And I'm not talking about Jaina or anyone else in his family I'm only talking about friends.

Speaking of big infodumps... that sort of has been Del Rey's calling card lately. Let's hope not, though.

Well, if Blood Oath has been canceled, I don't really see a lot of plausible options for how they'd deal with Zekk if they do intend to bring
him back into the FOTJ fold. Either one author (preferably Denning) will have to set a side a substantial portion of the book to explain what happened, or
they'll have to say he died.
Like I said earlier, I'd much prefer to see an author dedicate a subplot to illustrate Zekk's recent dealings, post LOTF. Maybe have a paragraph or two summarazing -- in Zekk's POV -- what happened after the battle of Shedu Maad, how he got out and what he was doing to help Hapes and/or the Zel twins and Tenel Ka. Then, while he's going over all this in his head, they'll have him either returning to Coruscant, or have him hearing about what's going on with the Jedi and Daala to make him want to return to help. |

I don't believe that even if BO is cancelled, they will just leave it by saying "Zekk died." Not only will that enrage fans (I know it will
enrage me), but they usually don't do that for cancelled novels. For example, Escape from Diago(?) was still considered Canon after it was cancelled.

Well, wasn't it summorized in an article somewhere?
Jaina realized with a cold shudder that Jacen had not failed. He had sacrificed everything-his name, his family, his reputation, his life- to unite the
galaxy. And now here Jaina was, watching the birth of a galaxywide league of worlds dedicated to working together in peace. Had Jacen won after all?

Hello...
I am a regular over at the SW.com boards, as some of you here know. Sue has returned from vacation and has given info on Blood Oath. Feel free to verify the info yourselves, but I will post it here for those interested... "Blood Oath -- we're all doing our best to keep it in the line-up and, if the manuscript comes in soon, the book will be moved again, maybe to April 2010. If there's no manuscript, then it'll have to be dropped. Events beyond the author's control, or wishes, have caused the delays. I know, that really doesn't tell you much, but it's not my story to tell, ya know?" - Sue Rostoni |

Ah, MO, you beat me to it.
Good news indeed, though by the sound of Sue's explanation, it doesn't sound very hopeful. Sounded like Elaine Cunningham was having some personal issues with the book or just with life in general, and if deleting her blog was any indication, it seems fairly serious. Whatever it is, I hope it gets worked out. |

The "I suppose" part was for the stuff you just mentioned.
The "good news", was for finally getting word on it, and the slim possibility that it's not cancelled.
