At this resolution I can't even tell who that is on the right side. While this will probably be good I was disappointed to learn that John Ostrander
doesn't have much to do with this

Logically it should be Jariah Syn, but what I can see of the picture doesn't look much like him. Assuming that lightsaber doesn't belong that
character, but to Cade it might be anyone, but looks like an older man to me.

I am actually really liking that cover. And until we know for certain (say, a VIP tells us) that this book will not cover any Legacy Era books, then
it will stay here.

I do believe that is Jariah Syn next to Cade. |

I agree with Corax. Even though it doesn't look exactly like Syn should, the resemblance seems to be implicating that is who it is.

There's no thread for it, so I put it in here:
This Legacy campaign guide appears to be all about the Legacy comic, and so it has been claimed that the Jedi Academy Manual must be about the NR, NJO etc eras. If this post in Wizard of the Coast's SW forum thread posting is anything to go by, it is nothing of the sort: Written as the ultimate Jedi training manual, the Jedi Academy Training Manual game supplement reveals the secrets of the Jedi across all eras of the Star Wars saga, from the earliest days of the Old Republic to the Dark Times and the re-emergence of the Jedi Order after the fall of the Galactic Empire. It gives players exciting new talents, feats, Force powers, and equipment for their Jedi characters. It also elaborates on the known Jedi fighting styles and provides new ways to build your character around a particular fighting style. And according to Amazon, it's only 160 pages, when the Legacy guide is 224 pages.

Which means that the Training Manuel will be $35, and the Legacy CG is $40
Jaina realized with a cold shudder that Jacen had not failed. He had sacrificed everything-his name, his family, his reputation, his life- to unite the
galaxy. And now here Jaina was, watching the birth of a galaxywide league of worlds dedicated to working together in peace. Had Jacen won after all?

Rodney Thompson had this to say about the Legacy Era CG on the WotC boards:
Quote:
Given my obsessive attention to background details, I was pleasantly surprised how much material we had to draw upon. That said, a big draw of the setting is that we did get to design a lot of new stuff.

This piqued my interest: "Authors currently working on stories set in that era." On the other hand, he seems to speak like he would be unaware of the
existence of the novels altogether, and those "stories" seem all to be new ones, yet to be published, but then, what else could he be talking about,
as "outside sources" would seem to mean that he doesn't mean new comic arcs that are now being written?

I think it could be taken either way. According to Randy Stradley 2009 is pretty much set for Legacy, now how much of it was set when they started this I
don't know. But I would imagine that they will draw from the novels as well.

I hope that we do indeed learn a lot of new and interesting things about the Legacy era. Like if Kol Skywalker was the grand master, stuff like that. Daala Count- 20 and counting and Hapans Rule All!

I'm sure many people hope this answers the old age question of exactly who Roan and Marasiah Fel are descended from. LOL, I will hug this book if it
pointedly does NOT answer this.

I would imagine that those in charge at Dark Horse, like John and Jan, would be incredibly pissed if this book answers that question

The Campaign Guides do not add THAT many changes to canon. I do not understand why everybody thinks it will answer questions we have been wondering. It
won't. I can't think of anything major the older CG did in canon.

But how can it be a change to canon if the authors already know the answer but just aren't telling? It would be a change to canon if the authors envisage
Emperor Fel 1 being Cem Fel, but the guide says it is Jag.

These kind of important questions that can't be answered at this point just prove that this guide shouldn't have been published yet.

You mean like the NJO Sourcebook that became out of date while it was being released?
Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. The Force shall free me. |

That kind, yes. I don't mean that they should have waited until Legacy has stopped appearing, but only as long as the background of Legacy can be fully
revealed. I mean, when the foul Fels can be revealed to be descendants of Jaina, it will change the way they are seen in in-universe. The adventures featuring
them that can be told will be different. They will be much more important and one can assume their stats would be improved because of that little amount of
Skywalker blood in their veins. Now they will just be Imperial overlords who are descendend from a minor character from old comics, who appeared few times in
novels in small roles too - if they go with the "descendants of Soontir Fel" explanation and leave even Captain Cardboard out of the family tree for
now. And that's just one example. Another would be how to explain K'Kruhk and T'ra Saa? No appearances in works between 19 BYY and 43 ABY, and
there they are, still alive in 137 ABY and the leaders of the Jedi Order Remnant which they have taken over.

It's all Legacy comic and nothing else. From Wizard of the Coast's own forums:
Chapter One (Species): Chagrian, Chiss, Codru-Ji, Klatoonian, Nagai, Weequay, Yuuzhan Vong and Zeltron. Chapter Two (Heroic Traits): New rules for the Legacy Destiny (playing a character who is a descendant of a famous personality--Ackbar, Darklighter, Solo, Halcyon, etc.), new talents for all the basic five classes... Chapter Three (Prestige Classes): New talents for Bounty Hunters, Elite Troopers, Gunslingers, Jedi Knights, Sith Apprentices and Officers. New classes are the Imperial Knight and Vong Shaper. Chapter Four (The Force): New Force powers (Ballistakinesis, Combustion, Dark Transfer, Detonate, Enlighten, Force Shield, Lightning Burst, Obscure, Prescience and Stagger). New Force talents and Techniques. Two new Force traditions (Disciples of Twilight and Ember of Vahl). Chapter Five (Equipment and Droids): Includes Biotech. Chapter Six (Vehicles and Starships) Chapter Seven (Legacy-Era Campaigns): Includes Heirloom Items (Boba Fett's armor, etc.). New vehicle and weapon templates. Chapter Eight: Galactic Gazetteer Chapter Nine (The Galactic Alliance): Troop and personality stats. Includes armor, gear and starships. Chapter Ten (the Galactic Empire): As above, contains some new stormtrooper types such as Knighthunter squads led by Sith which are resistant to the Force and skilled in melee combat. Darth Krayt is statted as a 20th level character, as is Roan Fel. New weapons, ships and gear as well, such as Knighthunter armor. Chapter Eleven (the Fringe): Jedi, Vong and organizations such as Black Sun, as well as pirates and places such as the Wheel. Two new beasts as well, including a template for Vong Shaped beasts. The only new thing of importance to others than roleplayers appear to be those two new Force using groups: Disciples of Twilight and Ember of Vahl. |
