Thought I'd mention I've finished up reading Bitterwood. It's an excellent Fantasy novel. I'm really glad I've read it, as I'll be looking forward to the next books in this series (and of course, I did recieve my copy of Dragonforge to read, which is book 2).

To give you a bit of a feel for the series - the Dragons here come in three different sizes, slightly smaller than humans, human sized, and just double the size of humans. They get into rough and tumble fights with humans, sword play and hand to hand combat. There are a good cast of characters introduced in this novel, and some great connections between some of them that I didn't even catch until it was revealed later in the novel (and I'm usually good at figuring these things out ahead of time). It starts out in fairly familiar fantasy territory - one man who wants revenge for the death of his family - but over the course of the book, the story takes some very interesting turns (of the 'Planet of the Apes' variety) and you realize that hints placed earlier on in the book reveal a much bigger story yet to be told. All in all, I'd definately recommend it, and there's no doubt this book will be on my best of '08 list.
