He was one of my favourite writers when I was a kid: I read all his classic novels, a lot of the lesser ones, and many of his stories. Later my interest mostly
waned to nostalgia, but before that I had many happy moments with his work. My favourite of them is the rather late novel "The Fountains of
Paradise".
He lived a long life and achieved much, pity that the future of spaceflight during his lifetime wasn't like he dreamed it to be 50-60 years ago. |

I really wish to say something profound, but lack the words. Clarke was - and still is - a pioneer of the science fiction world, and he has definitely
stimulated my imagination and more than once occasion and continues to do so. He will be missed, but his works have, in a sense, made him - or his mind at
least - immortal.
