There are two franchise-based Lego games coming out next year, both using the Lego Star Wars II game engine.

Lego Indiana Jones (Summer 08)
and
Lego Batman (Fall 08)

Part of the excitement is getting to see all the different characters depicted as Lego men. Imagine, Lego Indy, Marion, Marcus Brodie, Sullah, Shortround, Dr. Jones Sr., and not to mention tons of little Lego Nazis (which begs the question of how detailed these little badguys will be?) And Lego Batman, Robin, the Riddler, the Joker, the Penguin, Catwoman, and lord knows who else.

I'm also curious to see if the plot of Indy IV will be a playable portion of that game, and doubley curious to see how they're going to structure the Batman game.

And I'm very pleased to say that Lego Batman will be going to PC (according to the teaser, now on Yahoo.) But if Lego Indy don't do the same... somebody's gonna get hurt (probably my little lego voodoo doll.

)

I'm all for freedom of speech, but c'mon... when you can't say a single positive thing about your choice of entertainment, isn't it time to move on and find something new?

I can't wait for Lego Indy - I'm sure it'll be for PC because it's such a major market.

The great thing about Lego Star Wars is how successful it was at bringing together all ages - I recently had a blast hanging out with a near-40 year old who usually played the game with his daughter, but he had (as did we) as much of a blast playing it with a bunch of college kids.

I awaken into this world fully programmed yet completely innocent, unaware of the hardships I'll endure or the great potential I will one day fulfil.

Rumor mill is buzzing that there's going to be another Lego Indy game by the end of the year, that might coincide with a Indy Trilogy Blu-Ray release.

This concept of "wuv" confuses and infuriates us!

I wouldn't be surprised if it included the new movie.

I don't want to buy a whole new product unless I'm getting all new content.

I suspect it'd be the first three + Kingdom.

Because otherwise, I'm not sure if a Lego Indy game would hold the appeal if it included new adventures... I don't know if the story would be able to be conveyed solely by lego means.

How did the Batman game work?

It'd be better if they created some kind of expansion pack that *added* Kingdom into the original game.

I own all three games and I liked the batman one, it's sort of based on the 90s movies but I still liked it.

I've played the Lego Batman demo... it looks like each level is precluded with a text explanation (presented in "case file" format.)

I suppose technically, you could base new Indy levels on any number of (albiet less iconic) things... the Young Indy show, comics, old Indy games like Infernal Machine, the novels...

Of course, I'm not sure how well that'd translate into the game either. Especially to movie-only fans who decided to pick up a copy.

I'd ask you to remove the stick from your ass, but your sphincter must be so tight it's a wonder you got one up there in the first place.

I predict the Indy IV levels to be the Warehouse, the Diner/College Chase, The Ruins at Nazca, the Jungle Chase, Entering the Kingdom, and Escaping the Temple. Any other levels would either be based on the Young Indy adventures, or be entirely original.

I also predict new franchise-based Lego games in the future: Either Harry Potter, or The Clone Wars.

'course, I'm just bs-ing to get the topic rolling...

Lego Indy 2 announced. Will make all four movies playable. New levels, new animations.

Game info:

For the first time ever in a LEGO game, Build Your Own Adventure Mode allows you to create your own levels and environments and share them with your friends.
For the ultimate and most authentic LEGO experience, you can create your own levels and combine them with the existing ones in the game.
Play all new Kingdom of the Crystal Skull characters such as Mutt Williams on his motorcycle and use special abilities, including Oxley's Crystal Skull Power.
Innovative re-tellings of the classic movies (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) with all new objectives and brand new levels. For example, this time you can play through the exciting vehicle chase in Shanghai with Short Round.

I wonder if this'll open the door for more Lego games to explore scenes that they didn't get to do the first time around

And I'd been curious to see how they'd capitalize on Skull and still making it a full release game.

If you're saying what I think your saying... I really can't see them doing the Star Wars movies again since they've already done three releases for those.

Except that Lego Rock Band has already been announced, and they have trailers for it up.
