Posts: 2576 Sep 26 09 12:51 AM	Remove this ad The Rookie's certainly trying I'm working on a Legendary play through now and I did notice something else about him that was a nice touch though. As you're dropping through the atmosphere at the beginning, if you look to your far left, the Rookie has a picture of a girl taped to one side. I think it's Sadie (not confirmed yet) but it was definitely a nice touch. And firefight is a load of fun. You can play 2 per Xbox (and hook 2 xboxes up via system link) or you can play with friends online. There is no matching making component for it however. Campaign and Firefight are on disk 1. Disk 2 is Halo 3 Multiplayer with every map released to date, plus 3 new ones. It functions exactly like your Halo 3 disk minus the Halo 3 Campaign.

Posts: 6140 Oct 16 09 7:43 PM	So...got to play today, and while Firefight is definitely interesting and cool, I don't think I'll be playing it much- 2 hours for one game (I didn't even die, I just got tired with 5 lives remaining)? I'm still tired out from my attempt, though to be fair, I probably shouldn't have started it on Easy The new Halo 3 maps are pretty good. I'll try and get X-Box Live again soon, maybe I'll get it in a week. Anyway, I'm off to finish the campaign, the graphics are really good, if the story isn't spectacular. Posts: 2576 Dec 13 09 2:07 PM	Remove this ad Alright, Halo Reach, we've got two minutes of the opening cinematic. Thoughts and discussion? One small note is that I'm pretty sure your character (and possibly more?) are Spartan III's (Xbox Press had a release that mentioned it). Couple of good lines from the books "Spartans don't die, they just go missing in action" and the like. The graphics were good as well but the trailer was definitely more of a tease as far as I'm concerned. We didn't get much of a hint of what's going on, only got to see the team. And I really hope this doesn't turn into ODST, which it does kind of seem like at this point (although it's too early to tell). Anyway, I'm still looking forward to this; hopefully Bungie can pull it off

Posts: 426 Dec 14 09 12:13 AM	I thoroughly enjoyed it. From a technical standpoint the engine is quite simply beautiful. The models are crisp and I was particularly impressed with the the opening vista shot. Bungie looks to have nailed the atmosphere with this one. Oh and hey, the faces even looked well done -- which is I think a first for a Bungie game. Storywise, I'm definitely intrigued. It wasn't what I was expecting that's for sure. I was completely expecting shots of identical looking Mark V Spartan II's running around. What we got is something very different. I'm intrigued by the idea of playing as a Spartan III. Which, coincidentally, it looks like the press release has been corrected to say Spartan II. But all the same -- the reference to being no survivors of Pegasi only makes sense if the new member (and presumably player character) is a Beta company Spartan III. I would have to say that I'm far more interested in the identities of the other members of Noble team though. Their numbers clearly indicate that they are members of a second class of Spartan II's (with the exception of the heavy weapons Spartan with the orange MJOLNIR armor). So who trained these new Spartans? CPO Mendez didn't -- he was on Onyx. I hope they touch on this in the storyline somewhere and don't leave us hanging as to where they came from. Apparently someone that has seen more of the game has said that it has a much grittier feel to it -- which I completely welcome. Frankly, I don't really want Halo 4. I want something a little different. Besides, Reach is not going to have a happy ending. The planet falls and presumably many if not all of these Spartans fall with it. A more bleak and violent game is appropriate I think.

Nearing the end of 2, have 3 on my shelf and Wars on the way (managed to snag the limited edition of both!) and am considering getting ODST when I head out to get shoelaces in a minute. :P (I say back because I did play CE and part of 2 back when 2 came out, and even read a few of the books and the first graphic novel.)
