Why does this remind me so much of certain events in recent Star Wars books?

I had this epic mega-post that I just had typed up and ready to post.
And the F**&*%&*%(*%^*&RZtf o8aw75r4w thing just deleted on me. F%$K! F**K! Suffice it to say (and the fact it deleted will piss me off all fudging weekend because it was so long) that I feel Acky, as you are in my position at the end of LOTF. Janeway is to you what Jacen was to me. So I feel qualified to suggest to you that you read FC and judge it for yourself. I know you are fond of the opinion that we should read books for ourselves and make up our own minds, and I really do believe you should do that here. I do think that even if you don't money-back-guarantee love FC, you should at least leave it taking away some meaning from Janeway's death and the reactions to it of the people she left behind. I.... ah screw it. It took me thirty minutes to type this up the first time. I don't have the energy to do it again and it won't be as good. Sorry. |

Ok, there may be hope. I can't link to it, but the trek movie website has a preview of upcoming books - including a tie in novel to Star Trek Online (The
Needs of the Many) written by Michael Martin. I choose to believe that means Pocket has accepted the reality that this future is one and the same as the one
they are plotting out in their books - meaning we will see the return of Data. I am also excited about the movie based novels (though admittedly not
particularly Bennett's book, though the description of it doesn't do much for me even if I weren't opposed to him on principle.

Well, I said it gives me hope. For what it's worth, Data's return has already been 'written' - it's just that Pocket was being stupid and willfully choosing to ignor that fate. I now see a straight line between where Pocket books is 'now' (years before ST:O) this new tie-in book - and the link to the new Star Trek movie series. I like it when we are given a cohesive universe - and Pocket needed to grow up and realize they're not the only ones playing in the sandbox (it would be like Del Rey deciding to ignor TOR - because it doesn't fit in with Del Rey continuity). Now, Janeway is a whole other story. I'm not as sure how I feel about her death - only that it seems to have been a wasted opportunity, especially since it seemed like there would be a connection to Destiny - and then there wasn't one. By the way, the Trek Movie link is here.

Seriously guys, I don't care what the editors/authors say because Janeway walked off with Lady Q. She was talking
to Lady Q in the afterlife or the Q Continuum or whatever and she walked off with her.
So, the authors and editors can stick that in their pipe and smoke it, because that's what Before Dishonor had in its text, plain as day. Its ironic, because if they then make up some excuse then that renders BD a non-canon mess, and that means that in actuality Janeway is still alive. Lulz. Not that this will happen, but it just irks me that they seem to be pointedly neglecting those final Janeway scenes of BD, as if pretending they aren't there will make them non-existant in reality. I honestly don't know what they are thinking in regards to this issue..? Until someone tells me otherwise in an actual novel, I am going to assume that Janeway is sitting bored as hell in the Q Continuum, unless she is talking existentialism with Lady Q or warding off the advances of Q, who has since gotten over his funk regarding her and is trying to get in her captain's... sorry, Admiral's pants again. On another note, I have Unworthy, Synthesis and OMG ROMULAN WAR on order and I am hoping they arrive this week. |

Perhaps it can be read (I haven't read it) as a death dream, a last vision before consciousness faded? So, instead
of a tunnel with a light at the end of it, she got the Q Continuum and died mercifully believing she would live on. |
