1.04 - Balance
I can't go around telling my earth friends that I'm living half my life on a starship. Student. Ensign. Brother. Jedi. Friend. These are the molds that one Aaron Hall tries to fit into during the course of a daily life, and as he becomes more engrossed in his Jedi training and Starfleet duties, he finds it growing difficult to maintain those aspects of his 21st century self. When Captain Ry assigns the training Jedi a near impossible test, Aaron's pursuit of the solution forces him to re-examine his all of his relationships, but in the process discovers more about himself. |

Woulda been up sooner but it took me like... an hour to find a quote for the blurb.
As much as I adore this episode and it's one of the favorites that I've written simply because it's so different from the big sweeping scripts of mine that have come before... it's quiet, subtle, and features almost no main cast members in prominent roles. It also is so tightly woven that finding a pull-quote that summed up the episode while still making sense out of context was a gigantic pain! And because of my lateness, I'll tease that I'm almost done with episode 9, Always in Motion, Part 1 and am really excited with some of the smaller moments that I've discovered with Rachel that I think, in about 4 lines of dialogue, opens up her character and shows an incredible amount of growth on her part from when we first met her in Valkyrie. I think I texted Joey saying that she'd "crap her pants" when she read it... in retrospect, it may not be that big of a revelation/change, but I do think it's big. |

1.05 will be running late - going through some structure revisions late in the game to make it a better/stronger episode - I think we finally hit the mark,
it's just got to run through editing processees.

This thread needed a bump.
I'm *thisclose* to starting up production again. |

I'm slowly learning how to be a writer on the Darkness sites. Maybe someday....

I've still ALWAYS wanted your skills as continuity manager for the series... I can't tell you how many times I refer to the detailed timeline I was
forced to put together

While I have no idea what that job would entail I will shoot you an email. Sounds intriguing.

I'm *thisclose* to starting up production again. Thank god. The time lapse between the ending you left me with and the next installment is getting brutal. |

Acky I must admit that I am not... not yet anyway. You might convert me. I actually remember when the crossings first were talked or posted about here
thinking, ah... maybe. Since then though I have grown in interest a bit. And honestly, I just did some reading of just a few pages of the prelude and I think
I'm already hooked!
I might have to check out some Trekkie stuff. Quick question, if I were to want to check out some of the afore mentioned Trekkie stuff, where would a noob like myself start? jf1 |

Glad to hear you're liking it - I'm a firm believer that you don't need any Trek knowledge to follow the story if the characters work. It'll
start very Trek dominated and slowly work toward a better balance.
I'd suggest you pop down and ask that question in the Lit forum: The Changing Face of STar Trek Lit. then you'll have at least 3 of us regular attendees to that thread as responders to your queries of where to start. |
