Posts: 13966 Feb 26 11 8:52 PM	Although I get the nagging feeling that somewhere Robert Ludlum is making a phone all (he wants he book cover back), the cover is definitely a different flavour for a SW book, and different has positive connotations in this context. I'm a fan of it. I also ove the shadows of the Rebel and Imperial logos on the opening doors/walls/scenery. Blurb time! Javul Charn is the most famous pop star in the galaxy -- and the runaway bride of a violent lieutenant in Black Sun, the crime syndicate commanded by Prince Xizor. This opening sentence really does make this sound like a Star Wars thriller. It's like Bodyguard or Romancing the Stone or something, only thankfully this doesn't have Michael Douglas though unfortunately it has no rockin' Whitney Housten soundtrack. Criminal syndicates? CHECK! Pop stars on the lam? CHECK! Famous evil villains (Prince Xizor)? CHECK! Although like Jet Nebula and others, I am not a fan of the name Javul. Until I am told otherwise, and maybe even past then, I will pronouce this name as "Ja Wohl!" It totally sounds cooler than "Jav-ool." Or so Javul says. Soon after Dash Rendar, broke and desperate, agrees to be Javul's bodyguard, he realizes that openness is not her strong suit -- and that murder is stalking her tour. It would really be neat if the holostar is killed and this somehow leads into Dash's work in Human Replica Droids we see in Or Die Trying. When Han Solo suddenly joins Javul's road show, the stakes are raised even higher. Now Dash, who has a history with Han and an even worse history with Prince Xizor, follows his instincts, his discoveries, and Javul herself -- straight into a world that may be too dangerous to survive! Between this and Death Troopers, Han is totally clocking in the Random Movie Character Obligatory Appearance role. Hhhmmmm. Sounds like real fun!

Posts: 6887 Feb 28 11 4:14 PM	Master Optician - I wanted to thank you for posting the link to the cover, appreciate that. I saw it on vacation through your twitter feed. I find it to be a very striking cover, I really like it. Which is a shame, because I'm unlikely to get it or read it. I'm not much of a fan of Reaves, and the plot descriptions have done nothing to convince me that I should give it a try in spite of my reservations due to my prior dislike of that author's Star Wars books. To each their own, and I hope this winds up a good read for those who get it - but it's not one on my radar. But hey, really great cover.

As to the cover, well it's different stylistically from most but I like to see a clear representation of a character(s) as opposed to what we've got "Secret shall I tell you" He leaned in close, so she could feel his whiskers rasping against her face. Because they will not release two books on the same day and I don't see them releasing this earlier as that almost never happens. I'm hoping Max can send out his mouse droids to gather intel any day now.
