I’m planning on attending the New York Comic Con (henceforth NYCC) on Oct 10th (the whole Con is from 10/8-10/10) with my sons, and I’m planning on sharing any Star Wars news I might learn while there.

In the meantime, I thought some of you might like to see what Star Wars related news has already been announced for NYCC, as well as what exhibitors will be there that might be of interest to Star Wars fans.

In other posts, I’ll list other exhibitors of interest to me, and other news that I’ve kept my eye on – feel free to post things you find that you’re excited about – especially if it’s something you’d like me to keep my eye on while I’m there – and of course, let me know if you’re planning on attending.

Del Rey will be promoting:
The Making of The Empire Strikes Back will be available for sale at NYCC 2 days before it’s official release, with a limited edition NYCC exclusive poster, and signings from author J.W. Rinzler.
According to the Random House Spring 2011 catalog: The Old Republic: Deceived will be promoted at NYCC

Knight Errant comes out just a few days after NYCC, I imagine they’ll be promoting it there

Atlas (above) is a revival of an old comics company, offering a #0 issue as an introduction to new readers at NYCC.

Jim Lee (of DC comics) will be signing ICONS (a book highlighting his work at DC) at NYCC.

According to the Random House Spring 2011 catalog, they'll also be promoting God of War 2 and Deus Ex: The Icarus Effect novels.

Midtown Comics will have some show exclusives such as Green/Yellow Lantern caps, Uncanny X-Force #1 variant cover, Captain America shirt, 25% off all books + store/online coupons.

I'm just going to point out that New York Comic-Con, a relatively small convention that even a local like myself tends to ignore in favor of the larger International convention at San Diego, is putting on a ten times better Star Wars showing than SDCC did.

I didn't mention it above, but I suspect Titan will be promoting their new The Clone Wars magazine, which will have just released it's first issue a few days prior to the convention (and inclues TCW comics - probably from the UK). That's one of the reasons I'll be stopping by their booth.

Keep an eye out for the Del Rey boothes. We're close enough that I think there's a chance you may see an early appearance of a few interesting book covers.

Yeah, not his Star Wars novel - I figure he means there will be giveaways of Transformers: Exodus and Iron Man: Virus (which I was hoping to pick up at NYCC, so that would be most welcome).

More Star Wars signings:

From joeschreiber1 twitter: Just a reminder: I'm signing STAR WARS books next weekend at the New York Comic Con -- noon on Saturday, two PM on Sunday.

Katie Cook (sketch artist and The Clone Wars webcomic artist) can be found in artists' alley at table G-14. She will be doing $5 custom mini-paintings THE WHOLE SHOW, some larger convention sketches... have copies of f**k you, box and my 2010 sketchbook for sale and more! (plus original art!)

And in the "other" news category - from cosmicbooknews, a Marvel sampler comic will be available at NYCC with Fantastic Four's new story "Three", Spider-Man's "Big Time", Avengers: Earth's Mightest Heroes (cartoon) comic book preview and more.

Back to the non-Star Wars news:

Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning will be on hand for signing and panels - these are the guys responsible for the best scifi comics coming out of Marvel, and I hope they'll talk about what they've got planned next for Marvel Cosmic. The duo can be found in Artist's Alley - tables T8 and T9.

The Armory Wars: In Keeping Secrets of Dying Earth Trade (issues 1-4) and issue 5 variant available @NY_Comic_Con this weekend, Booth #2575. This is a scifi series written by Peter David (Star Trek).

I recall seeing that there's going to be a Tron: Betrayal (bridge comic between movies) comic issue #1 alternate cover at NYCC - but I can't find the info anymore.

It appears DavidAlanMack and KRAD (Keith DeCandido) of Star Trek book writing fame will be at boomstudios for #NYCC Fri-Sun, booth 2135.

To sum up, there's all the prior news about the Making of the Empire Strikes Back book, as well as an opportunity to win a copy of the book after the panel, free copies of the paperback of Death Troopers, a free double sided poster with Red Harvest and Deceived, free copies of the paperback of Outcast, free copies of Knight Errant #0 - etc. I'll definitely be stopping by this booth.

Enter to win The Jedi Path each day at NYCC according to Dan Wallace's blog, news via KnightsArchive.

The give away happens at the Jedi Training panel each day, which I'm sure my kids would love to see - I'm just not sure if we'll be able to stay that late on Sunday. So, we'll see.

Pre-show booth pictures.

First, here's DK's booth with a bunch of Star Wars posters/books. I think the one under Year by Year (upper left) is Rebel Blueprints, so I'm not spotting anything obviously new.

Then suvudu did a whole series of pictures, going down the row of Random House booths (Del Rey is the second picture, though it's a little blurry and far away) as well as pictures of the view they have (of other booths). It looks to me like the two partially obscured posters (with people in front of them) are Conviction (organe title, red coloring with blue lightsaber) and Knight Errant (the yellow/gold Star Wars title). Is that Thrawn on the long banner hanging in the background?
