So I was finally able to pick up this issue today and I have to say that for me it lived up to the hype. This is exactly how I wanted to see Luke Skywalker
during NJO. Stay tuned for XWG's and my full review tonight!!

Ughh!!! I so want to read this. I was also wondering how DH is going to be protraying Luke. Will he be shown as having doubts or because he is not a main
character, and therefore we are not getting his POV, will he be shown as nothing but confident?
I for one am looking forward to how luke will be viewed through other people's eyes. We know there is a sense of awe but since we as the reader are so "close" to him via his thoughts and family members, sometimes that feeling that he is a badass is lost. At least that is how it felt for me during NJO. And bets now on how many of Finn's family members die?? |

I think right now Finn's dad is a goner. Now that could change as the series goes on but right now I think he has a 75% chance of dying. I think Finn's
sister will survive the whole series. What I wonder is if Tom has the entire series plotted out. I know Randy said he was shocked at how fast Tom could turn
out these scripts and Tom said he was plotted out quite a ways. What I wonder is if at issue #X Finn returns to be the king of Artorias, thus setting up a new
bastion for the Jedi later on down the road.
In terms of Luke I think as the series goes along we will be shown more of his POV, ecspecially considering that he is training Finn. That is an area where more of the Light side vs. Dark Side morality issues could be addressed. But at least in this issue it was Luke-Skywalker-I'm-here-to-rescue-you that showed up on the scene instead of aggression-is-not-the-way-of-the-Jedi Luke that, for me, predominated the first half of NJO. |

Great start.
The YV are EXACTLY what they should be. Good to the see them in action, I think the art is just perfect, especially the one of the slaveship. PER-FECT. And nobody talked about the little piece of sheet showing us... the New Republic army : now I can't stand to see the plot crossing some of the most famous battles (the closest one should be Dantooine, Garqi and Ithor by now), even though I know it's highly probable that DH will take nothing from the novels. First surprise is that some characters knows each other (Caled & Luke), maybe it's no surprise cos' they were together at the battle of Hoth. Second surprise is the Galfridian are the freakin' kings of Artorias. Well, well... hum, why not ? Let's see what the future will do with that. Then Luke. Ok THIS IS Luke, this is not the boring and annoying Luke of the early NJO. And so WHAT ? If Luke weren't what he was in the early NJO, imagine how Star by Star would be... unflavoured. Luke has got many right reasons not to cut down YV at the beginning of the novel serie. And many wrong reasons. The difference between is VP and SBS is just the priority he puts in his reasons... I prefer that psychological evolution that sayin' Luke should be quite a confident badass all the time. No, absolutely not. Anyway, this is all a question of interpretation. In this issue, if I want, I can say that he is exactly what he is in the NJO ! Look, all he does here is organizing a rescue operation with military troops to protect the refugee (exactly as Dantooine). I can remember Luke taking steps in fighting when it was necessary in the early NJO (Belkadan to save Jacen, Dantooine, Tafanda Bay), here, he's got to take steps to help the defencers of the hangar, and his friend Caled. So it lacks Luke's POW to clearly establish if he cuts through the Vong mind-freely or reluctantly. And I would like DH to keep it that way. NO Luke point of view, please, or DH's gonna ruin the NJO first part. |

Nice review Corax. A little short where you're co-author got stone walled but to the point.
I was reading along and just getting a feel for the characters and having a nice enough time with the comic. I mean, I'm not surprised this comic isn't a huger than huge deal on this site where even years after the conclusion of the series it is still essentially a web site dedicated specifically to this era in the expanded universe. Anyway, I was reading along having a fine time when suddenly the whole thing changed for me. The blast doors in the hangar on Artorias opened and there was Luke Skywalker standing over the smoldering remains of at least a dozen Yuuzhan Vong warriors. It was at that point I felt a little faint, giddy even, and realized I had fangasmed. I'm in love with Invasion now. To my mind, this is the most epic story in the entire expanded universe. Now I get to see the enemy. I get to see the ships, the weapons and gadgets of the Yuuzhan Vong. I get to put a face to so many of the heroes whose features existed largely in my mind until now. This is awesome.

I guess part of the issue is most people don't have it yet..?? I think I just fangasmed reading about your fangasm of how awesome Luke is. Your description of him at the opening hangar doors just gave me Dark Tide Onslaught flashbacks. |

It is an awe inspiring scene Nom, and not to sound alarmist or anything but I fully expect this issue to sell out. So be ready for a second
printing.

I fully expect this also, so DH could change its planning of publication. The 5 months Invasion / Dark Times is shitty. I want
Invasion to be a regular serie. Put TCW away !

LOVED the first issue!!
Can't wait to see where this series goes from here. The only thing I felt a bit off was that Luke took out so many Yuuzhan Vong single handed (or at least that's what's implied) so soon after Vector Prime. But it was an amazing scene and a great character intro for Luke, and his dual lightsaber rescue of Jacen is less than 2 months away so I can't complain. As much as I'm looking forward to seeing all my favorite characters from the novels (especially the Solo kids) in this series, at the same time I'm hoping that they keep them only as supporting characters where needed and make this Finn and Kaye's story. We know what happens to the major characters, so it was great to see the war from a fresh perspective. With Rebellion and Dark Times DH never really managed to stick to the 5 month on/5 month off schedule, so I'm hoping that they won't with Invasion. The fact that Invasion sounds ahead of schedule and they're currently releasing both at once seems to imply they probably won't have a full 5 month gap. Which of course is good for us! |

I hope you're right Chris. Maybe that will be one of the announcements at SDCC, that Invasion won't go on a five month hiatus.

It could be, but they never really announced anything last time. Dark Times got behind (but the art was totally worth the wait) so Rebellion started it's
next 5 month arc on time, then pretty much kept running to fill the gap and Dark Times did the same once it got back on schedule.
