There is no difference between the blurbs I posted. The one I posted in the spoiler forum is cut and pasted from the one in here.

My own lack of comments on the blurb stem from my almost indifferent feel to the novel. Not in a "i hate FOTJ" way but I am taking each book
as they come and am not trying to raise or lower expectations.
I think many of us are suffering from this same thing. We just aren't that excited anymore. I have to admit that after LOTF and Jacen's fall....death emotionally I am very weary. I absolutely LOVED Jacen and to see him butchered has left me numb. Sure I am reading the books and maybe I will enjoy them but I don't know if I will ever really feel the way I used to feel. I hadn't realized how much I had invested in Jacen's character until he was ripped away. Years of following him and watching him grow. Anakin's death was also really hard but somehow easier to bear than Jacens, so I don't know. Maybe they will "wow" me with this series. If they do it will be a surprise. Right now I'm very cautious about how excited I allow myself to get.
"Pride is pretty sneaky", Jacen warned. " It disguises itself pretty well. I hope you'll have a long talk with Uncle Luke at some point.
Unless you don't think even he has anything to teach you". Jacen Solo to his brother, Anakin Solo , Conquest pg.286

Not in a "i hate FOTJ" way but I am taking each book as they come and am not trying to raise or lower expectations.X, I think I was suffering from milder symptoms with what you and JV7 appear to have. Yet I personally felt like Millennium Falcon was like this breath of fresh air, and the book was taking baby steps to correct a lot of the silliness that we got in the end of LOTF. Sure, I thought a lot of the actual history of the Falcon was boring and monotonous, BUT I felt the book truly excelled when it looked at Han, Leia, Allana and their relationships and what each of them think of Jacen and his choices. In this regard the book was exquisitely beautiful and uplifting, while also sad in a sense (but a good kind of sad, not a sad kind of sad if that makes any sense). Then Outcast showed me what awesomeness Del Rey can actually produce when they feel the inclination. So while I was downbeat about it all for a while there, signs are improving and I hope they get even better, so as to fully win you guys back. Sure, there are decisions they made that I will never ever ever agree with, but if they keep making good books, it will go a long way to giving me back the faith. I will say the one thing that really caught my attentnion, and nom already mentioned this, was that han, leia, and jaina will be working together. Great oppurtunity to see allana and jaina together. Hell, Allana is already, what? 7? and we haven't had this kind of interaction. This could be a golden moment for Denning to really highlight this relationship.Actually, I'd now have to say that this is one of my highest expectations/wants out of Abyss. Not just Jaina/Allana, but also Jaina/Han+Leia. If I ever made a list of what I wanted from Abyss, this would be.... holy kriff, I think it would be Number 1 Most Wanted. I will be that bold. |

I am not out of the game yet for these novels. Honestly I dont think I ever could be. If I hated them I would just come here and bitch to everyone about and then keep buying more.

I will be that bold. This I have to say is also high on my list of things I really want (besides having the Horn children in the books as well). Jaina deserves to have some one on one time with her niece. Besides, the sinister side of me wants jaina hanging with Allana while simultaneously having I-need-a-tissue, heartbreaking thoughts about jacen. I'm also really interested in the part of the blurb that deals with the Jedi resistance to Daala's policies, mostly because I'm kind of a political junkie.I like this train of thought DJ. And it would go towards buidling a foundation in my head as to why the hell Daala was placed in that position in the first place. Daala by herself is random and somewhat boring. If she's an accomplice in the grand scheme of things, that would just...make me love her |

Besides, the sinister side of me wants jaina hanging with Allana while simultaneously having I-need-a-tissue, heartbreaking thoughts about jacen. You know when sometimes someone is thinking the exact same thing as you and that is scary in an awesome sort of way? This is one of those times. but maybe Daala's more complicit in this than just her normal hatred of Jedi manifesting itself now that she's CoS. If she's an accomplice, it could also explain why she so randomly assumed the position at the end of InvincibleI kind of glossed over this to begin with, but damnit, I like it. I do wonder if somehow Daala was maneuvred into position by like... One Sith operatives in the Senate or something. I don't know if that is what DJ was getting at, but its something I like. I guess when it comes to Daala post Revelation, my mind automatically defaults to "Daala as CoS is unimagineably ludicrous. Brain cannot handle cannot handle cannot handle. Proceed shutdown termination termination. These are not the plotlines you are looking for. Move along to preserve memory banks." I think that perhaps it would've been easier for me to swallow if Daala was the Minister of State instead, and that way she could still have massive amounts of power and leverage, but it wouldn't be as freaking random or insane. I guess what I need this series to do for me is give me a solid, sensible reason as to how she got that position because it is clear there was no election, and the whole, "She was the best person for the job" is a flat out bald-faced steaming pile of lies in crazy sauce. This series needs to spoonfeed me like I'm a baby in terms of how Daala got this position. I can see how she has RETAINED it, but we need to have a solid, adult, mature reason as to how she got there in the first place. I totally want Daala to be working with the One Sith to put the Jedi under the thumb, while Daala is ALSO planning to get rid of the Sith, because we know that while she does not like the Jedi at all, she also has a disliking for Sith. |

I can see how she has RETAINED it, but we need to have a solid, adult, mature reason as to how she got there in the first place. I'd assume that she had the most intact fleet by the end of the fighting, and so was the most obvious person for the politicians to flock to when their asses needed saving.

I don't buy that. Sorry, Max. I just cannot fathom how out of all the politicians that make up the Senate, plus all the random politicians that live on all
their homeworlds whose homeworlds are in turn member systems of the Galactic Alliance, plus any other politicians that may work on committees or planetary
parliaments or whatever.... and NONE of them can be the Chief of State? Pish posh! Whatever happened to Releqy A'Kla? Ponc Gavrisom? Hell, even friggen
Fyor Rodan - as much as an assface he is - makes more sense than Daala, who at the time of Revelation wasn't even a friggen GALACTIC ALLIANCE
CITIZEN.
This is why I need to be treated like a baby in this case, Max. This entire things scream of making no sense. Its like the Chewbacca Defense from South Park, and like I said in my Invincible review, I apply the Chewbacca Defense TO this plot line. As I said, I can see how Daala has retained her position and I can see why she may make a good CoS in SOME aspects, BUT I need someone to console me and tell me its okay and spoonfeed me a canon reason how she actually GOT the position and exactly WHY people like Han, Luke and Leia acted like they were in Season 4 of Angel and that Daala was Jasmine. And I hope that that at least makes sense to some forumers here, because its basically what happened in Invincible. |

I think that we will have three major plotlines for each of the authors three books. Like three seperate trilogies but in one series. Abyss seems like all hell
will break loose and depending on what happens then we'll know how the rest of the series will go.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most
frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people don't feel insecure around
you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give
other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. Mariane Williamson

I'm almost certain something terrible will happen in Abyss.
This is how twenty-five millenia come to a close. Corruption and treachery have crushed a thousand years of peace. This is not just the end of a
republic; night is falling on civilisation itself.

You guys.
All I implore of Abyss is that it does not see any of the following: *A YJK member die. *A YJK member go crazy. *A YJK member go evil. *A YJK member do any combination of the above. *A YJK member - or any of their spouses/romantic interests/potential romantic interests go MISSING IN ACTION AT THE END OF THIS NOVEL. Don't do it Denning. You're better than that. What I WANT to see in Abyss, but may or may not get: *All of the YJK. Yes, ALL of them. The only exception I will accept is Zekk, who may or may not be available due to Blood Oath issues. Obviously Jaina will be there. Assumedly, Tenel Ka and Tahiri will also be present. Jag too. But hey, RAYNAR, LOWBACCA and TESAR all need to put in appearances here. Seriously. *Winter Celchu. I really think Denning would do her justice, and we need to see Leia and Winter do stuff together, and hey, its all legit because of Darkmeld so it isn't like she'd be forced in there or anything. *A complete friggen listing of every single member of the Jedi Council. Seriously, Denning did it in TJK, why can't he just do it here? *JAINA/ALLANA INTERACTION. Hell yes. Also, Han/Leia and Jaina interaction. *A pregnancy. Preferably Jaina, because it would be wierd if Saba Sebatyne walked in and was all, "Thiz one is with child." *FORCE LORE. These Mind-Walkers sound so friggen awesome that my feeble brain can barely put their awesomeness into words. *Much Maw Cluster eerieness/creepiness/awesomeness. *Someone actually having the balls to point out to Daala that if she is going to dredge up old-school "crimes" and issues and throw lawsuits every which way, then feasibly, it would be very easy for someone to throw one her way for things like Mon Calamari genocide, the destruction of Eol Sha's colony, attacks on Luke Skywalker's Gifted School for Mutants, and oh yeah, attacking Dantooine just because she got pissed off that someone destroyed one of her warships.... IN A WAR. Whatever. No one has to actually FILE a lawsuit, but I just want someone to point out that yes, Daala did bad things in the past too, things that rival any accusations she throws at Jacen, or Luke, or whoever. *Jacen and Anakin Force ghosts. I realise my chances of this are slim, but if we're getting Mara Poltergeist, why not three for the price of one? *Cronal. I don't care how. I don't care why. I don't care if Cronal is White Eyes, or the Maw beast, or both or neither, but seriously. Cronal.
.... I think that's it. |
