That might look ugly if that would really happen in Denning's novel, considering that Zekk is his favourite character, the whole BO situation was based on
where he left Zekk, FotJ is his concept apparently etc. It would look like he would have taken over the story and got Blood Oath cancelled in the process. And
so I don't believe that Zekk will appear or perhaps doesn't even get mentioned at all in Abyss.

I would be very sad if Zekk went crazy in Abyss.
But I don't think it'll happen. I remember Sue commenting awhile back about how they were going to avoid any appearances, or even mentions, in the first three books. ![]() ![]()

Or if it does, it means you need to relook your qualifications as a writer.

I doubt anything will happen to Zekk. It seems thus far the psychosis is only affecting the Junior Jedi Knights who went to the Maw during the Yuuzhan Vong
War, afterall.

Let's see:
Alema Rar = crazy? Check. Raynar Thul = crazy? Check. Tahiri Veila = arguably crazy? Check. Jacen Solo = crazy? Check. Seriously, I think that based off of this track record alone, the rest of the YJK can get away with NOT having Force psychosis, thank you very much. I also think it would be a little bit of a slap in the face if Zekk returns to the cast only to become a rabid little victim of Force psychosis. Doubly so if Blood Oath is indeed cancelled, because it's like, "Hi guys. I've been away for three years in-universe. I'm now back and I'm tappin' Hapan Zel twins ass. What's that? Jacen's DEAD? Tahiri left the Order? Jaina and Jag are about to have a baby.. GRRR ARGH!! GLACK. CHOKE. YOU ARE ALL IMPOSTORS. CRUSH KILL DESTROY KILL JEDI IMPOSTORS!" See? It just doesn't seem right. |

Jacen went crazy? I don't think he went "crazy" he just didn't agree to Luke's orders and wanted to save the galaxy...by...destroying
everybody in the galaxy...including his family...and kidnapping his kid...okay maybe he went a "little" Crazy. :P
Jaina realized with a cold shudder that Jacen had not failed. He had sacrificed everything-his name, his family, his reputation, his life- to unite the
galaxy. And now here Jaina was, watching the birth of a galaxywide league of worlds dedicated to working together in peace. Had Jacen won after all?

Sure with Alema Rar and Raynar, but Tahiri and Jacen are as sane as any dark-sider you can get, and dark-siders aren't all crazy. Maybe Palpatine and a
couple of others, but most are very sane people making dubious choices.
This is how twenty-five millenia come to a close. Corruption and treachery have crushed a thousand years of peace. This is not just the end of a
republic; night is falling on civilisation itself.

I never saw Palpatine as crazy. Somebody crazy could not create a plan over a span of decades to decimate the entire Republic.

He was brilliant, but still crazy. I think his face when he is killing Mace Windu, or when he is attacking Yoda shows it quite clearly. He's mad.

The only time I've ever really enjoyed reading about him - or even a plot he was involved in - was when he set Ship free and nearly went dark again. I wouldn't mind seeing an older dark Zekk. Probably not the most popular opinion, I know, but up until now, he's never really felt very important to me. BO might have changed that, but since chances are high that it's been axed, what else are they going to do with him? Toss him into the FOTJ subplot with a paragraph or two explaining what happened to him after Invincible? Or maybe they'll just say he died in the battle of Shedu Maad... Either way, I'm sure they have a good reason for why they've canceled it. If they have.

My HOPE is that the authors do not see fit to have Zekk - or anyone else in the YJK circle - succumb to the Force Psychosis, which is more or less having your mental faculties overriden by some other nefarious force and causes the rest of the heroes to hunt you down as a villain analogue even if you are technically NOT a villain. It would just be too repetitive and silly. Have a Jedi Master succumb to Force Psychosis instead. Like Kyle Katarn or Saba Sebatyne. THAT would be much more interesting. |

You make a good point. I take back my speculation on how Zekk returns. And, by you're own terms of people getting overridden in any manner, I declare the following characters should never be infected: Kyp, Streen, and eveyone from the Myrkr mission.

max jaybo wrote:I definitely must agree with you. I think the first postponing cause was the one Sue told us as "the manuscript is not yet ready" more or less. Well, that WAS a lie. I still think it was ready but that DR feared it would alter FotJ in some way, something like : "we still want the plot to be opened to many possibilities which the Cunningham novel would close otherwise". The postponing in december was, thus, meant to let FotJ grow with its proper mysteries (all the bad stuff unresolved in Invicible). And I can remember everyone was disappointed : how can Outcast, Omen and Abyss could not unvail these mysteries before december ? The first release date of Blood Oath was obviously the best one : Outcast to lauche the new serie, and BO as a final point to LotF. Now, Del Rey WILL cancel it and replace it by something a lot more different, and the following FotJ novels will explain us all we need to know. Yeah, the point is that Blood Oath is now editorially irrelevant and pointless. And it's not a wandering of my mind, it's pure and implacable logic. |

I fail to see how Blood Oath can be irrelevant when it was supposed to - amongst other things - show us how Zekk survived, how he grew as a character and
indeed independent of Jaina, showing how the nonsensical WTF-ness of a whammy that was Jag's installation as Imp Head of State actually MAKES SENSE, and I
assume from the sounds of it, it would have shown us things like how Jaina and Jag got back together, what happened to further the divide between Hapes and
Bastion, it would have proved a PLAUSIBLE explanation for not only how Zekk survived but probably would've given us a reason as to why its okay for him NOT
to be in FOTJ at all yet, and hell not even MENTIONED by anyone at all, and although I may be reaching here, it COULD have given us things like how Tenel Ka
reacted to Jacen's death, and indeed it may have even given us some sort of exploration as to Tenel Ka's life post-Allana.
NOT irrelevant at all in my humble opinion. |

In your eyes yes.
However, everything I listed are things that people have been claiming Invincible should've shown, or attempted to show, or complained beause it wasn't clear how they eventuated in the timespan between Invincible and Outcast. |

Yeah maybe the frustration is not the same when you have two possibilities : 1) a novel explaining all the events occurring between Outcast and Invicible that I really WANT to see as much as MistaTheExecutor wants
to. These events are not irrelevant (especially Hapes vs Bastion plot), I said the editor choices NOW are. This leads us to the point 2.
