Somebody posted on starwars.com that Amazon UK has moved Blood Oath to Jan. 7th 2010 and it's still listed.
Jaina realized with a cold shudder that Jacen had not failed. He had sacrificed everything-his name, his family, his reputation, his life- to unite the
galaxy. And now here Jaina was, watching the birth of a galaxywide league of worlds dedicated to working together in peace. Had Jacen won after all?

Wasn't the UK date always 7th of January and 29th December just the US date?

yeah, but they sell both the US and UK editions over there. It's the same book.
But Random UK (Arrow/Century, whatever) isn't exactly the fastest horse in the race. Remember when they told me that Legacy of Doom was still on their schedule, despite being a never-written book which was cancelled over a decade ago?

Since I'm not the only one who feels this way, I'm gonna go ahead and say this.
Thank you guys for taking the effort to post what you find, and for going out and looking. It helps to know as much as we can to avoid making assumptions, etc. That said, although we appreciate it, we just aren't hearing anything new from you guys. Some sites are affirming what we saw on other sites, and some sites are affirming that they haven't changed anything yet. There's no issue with this in itself, but this makes what, 3 pages of the same thing? You're doing a great job, but unless there's new information, all you're doing is making us more anxious to hear an official statement, and making us even more confused. I know Nom said this in a joking way, but that's not to say that the sentiment isn't true. Thanks for the hard work, but I think we're past the point of posting any more of the same information.
Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. The Force shall free me. |

if they cancelled it (what I would hate), what for? no chance of enough success moneywise? another book idea they want to promote instead december? they have
an empty spot to fill now.. but I thought Blood Oath was the best thing to happen in a long time..

i agree it sounded like one of the most aswome books to come out. in the expand universe section a while ago i think we had a tread talking about which books
from this new contract might be cancelled if i remember correctly blood oath was never mentioned everyone assumed holostar might get the honour

There's no way objectively to define what kind of book fits the definition "one of the most awesome books to come out" and why even try? It would
have been awesome for Peter, but not for you. No problem there.

The only way I will accept this book's cancellation is if they replace it with a Jacen Solo Force trip novel. And that is the only thing that would make me
accept this as a cancellation, if it is indeed what is occurring.
What I am curious about is this: In the past when we have had books cancelled, they are mostly replaced with another book that has nothing whatsoever to do with the cancelled book, and more often than not, they also replace the author with someone different. What I want to know is this: Let's say Blood Oath is indeed cancelled. Why can't they just get another author to write a novel that is more or less what Blood Oath was going to be anyway? Obviously, you would have to significantly alter the plot, otherwise Elaine Cunningham could sue the asses off of Del Rey and so she should, but why can't you, for example, get another author hired and say: "Hey write a novel set after Invincible that has an A Plot of Zekk's survival and a B Plot of Jagged Fel's rise to Grand Moff of the Moffs on the Moffship." I mean... why can't they do that? The bare bones story - that is, Zekk's survival and Jag's rise to power is what the novel was going to be before Ms Cunningham even signed on, so why go through all the effort of making up an entirely new story and then getting the author to craft that from the start? |

But can't she sue if they use her ideas? Unless all the ideas in the plot are DR's...

I have a feeling that the book has just been moved a bit more. If you look at its late December release date, we're getting a lot of books out in that two
months span. I don't know the complete list off the top of my head, but we're looking at at least Crosscurrent, Backlash, and Dynasty of Evil. With
such a large clumping I can only imagine that the intention was to spread that out a bit.
It may be me being overly hopeful, since I want this book out as much as every one of you, but I feel this argument has more truth behind it than most. |

if there was a case of overloading i think it would be better to delay dynaasty of evil as it is a book which so far hasnt been delay as far as i know or maybe
crosscurrent

I still say whatever happened to it is because they feel the BO story is sufficiently told in FOTJ.
Just watch. I bet Zekk's gonna go nuts in Abyss, and then we're going to find out all about what happened to him and what else went down with the Imps/Hapans.
