That's interesting. The Book of Anger? I though they were more or less good guys?
This is how twenty-five millenia come to a close. Corruption and treachery have crushed a thousand years of peace. This is not just the end of a
republic; night is falling on civilisation itself.

Yes, it's a pretty interesting development.

Actually, they just use the info for creating artificial lightsaber crystals, which in itself is just a chemical process. That's emphasized in the book.
Don't make assumptions based on second hand hearsay (especially from TF.N of all places, for crissakes).

But they still have the book itself in their hands?

And the Jedi of the Old Republic had Sith holocrons and other Dark Side Artifacts in their restricted libraries and would allow Jedi Masters to study and glean
legitimate academic Force knowledge from them. It's the same difference. In fact, didn't Luke create an artificial crystal for his new lightsaber in
Shadows of the Empire?

Yes that's how Luke made his lightsaber crystal. In fact the instructions he used were made by Obi-Wan.

Lots of modern crystals are made synthetically. Almost every Jedi with a crystal that's not blue or green does.
And please, I don't want to argue semantics here. Almost. At least 75%. And I'm not proving something that we all know is true. Sorry if I sound hostile, but I'm tired of being called out on shit like that and I'm not having it this time. And, like Rouge asked, can anybody confirm/deny that the Imperial Knights have or don't have the Book of Anger and/or the rest of the Compendium?

I looked through Wizards' own forum thread about the guide, nothing about Book of Anger or crystals, but the forumers are driven to a frenzy because of IK
armour talents and non- Force sensitive Nat Skywalker. (The latter being either error or an attempt to concentrate on his alter ego Bantha Rawk without stats
for Nat the Jedi Master.)
Possible mainor spoiler, although I expect it to be just fanon: I did find a date which is the supposed founding date of the IKs, but it's a suspicious one to me. The poster is rather vague whether it comes from the guide or just from Wook. Browwiw can shot this down, I hope, but it's 62 ABY. |

Founding dates are all so much bullshit anyway. The Sith were "founded" by Darth Ruin. The Republic was "founded" during the Ruusan
Reformations. If an author doesn't like it, all they have to do is come up with a suitable excuse to ignore it- say, the red armor and silver lightsabers
don't come into effect until that date, or maybe they don't officially break off from the Jedi Order until then.

It's a game based on a comic book based on an action/adventure sci-fi movie based on a fat bearded man's love of dodgy matinee movies. Let's dial
the hostility back a bit, myself included.

I have the book and have had a few days to look over it, so I can put down some of these rumors and confirm others.
The Imperial Knight Lightsabers: fact. Here is what it says exactly about the lightsabers, "...Imperial Knights do not seek out special crystals from planets like Ilum, as Jedi did during the days of the Old Republic. Instead, the Imperial Knights create synthetic crystals using techniques first detailed in Emperor Palpatine's writings, specifically in one of his treatises on the dark side of the Force: The Book of Anger. Despite the fact that the tome is filled with dark side lore, the process of crafting synthetic crystals (a method used by the Sith for millenia to create their red-bladed lightsabers) is little more than a mechanical process, bereft of ceremonial trappings. The Imperial Knights adapted these techniques to create their familiar white-bladed lightsabers." - I want to point out that Luke at one point read the entire compendium "Bantha" Rawk: Bantha indeed is missing anything to indicate his Force-sensitivity, and I assume it's a representation of him as a mechanic, not a complete view of him. Too many people, I feel, get bent out of shape thinking that stats are a complete and thorough summation of a characters traits, when really saga has shown its far more abstract in nature. - Also, it is possible to interpret that Ahnaah and Skeeto are his biological children, it's not the only way to read it and not how I read it. I think it means to say they're his step children with Droo, and that Micah was adopted from there. Though it may be tucked away on a page I haven't fully read, I have found no mention of an establishing date for the Imperial Knights. To my knowledge, this date is pure fanon. Antares Draco is descended from a former Inquisitor. Considering comments by Jan Duursema, it seems fairly safe to assume he is descended from Adalric Cessius Brandl. Any questions while I'm at it? |

Thanks, Jeskan!
One thing, about Draco, I think it's more likely that he is descended from the Inquisitor and former fallen Jedi Valin Draco who, I think, appeared in the Dawn of Defiance -campaign set during 18 BBY or so. In the male line, that is - nothing to stop from him being descended from the Brandls too. (I think that having a fallen Jedi as his ancestor might go someway explaining why Draco is so hostile to the Jedi.) I would have one question, well two really: There are two new Force groups in the guide, one apparently dark and the other gray. Can you give anything on them?

Does this book reveal any new information regarding the Ossus Project and the Yuuzhan Vong? Is there a section for Nyna Calixte/Morrigan Corde?
And does it see fit to reveal any morsel in regards to when K'Kruhk and Traa'sa returned from.... wherever the hell they were before joining the NJO? Much information (or any at all) about the Galactic Alliance (Remnant) in this time period and anything on the history/make-up of the Triumvirate? Anything on (OMG) Mon Calamari? |

I don't have my book with my, but in a few hours I'll be able to skim over the sections to give your answers, but there is a LOT of info on the Remnant
(its own chapter), nothing on the two Jedi, and the Mon Cal have some info but I don't remember it being anything new.

I was surfing wook today and found something I think you all might find interesting. The process of creating synthetic lightsaber crystals, formerly considered
a Sith practice but later adopted by the Imperial Knights, is the same process Jaina used to create her lightsaber crystal.

Jeskan wrote: As was said in the LEGACY guide itself, the OJO Jedi used to go on quests to get the crystals, but Luke's Order seems to either use existing crystals or use synthetic ones. There's an interesting question of how Obi-Wan knew how to create a synthetic crystal, but at the end of the day...once you remove the dark side ritual from it, it's just cooking up the proper crystal in a mechanical process, as the LEGACY guide itself said. There's evidence that plenty of Luke's Order simply made their own crystals. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if in a few hundred years or if we went back a few hundred years we found Jedi who created fake crystals and had a lightside meditation ritual to go along with it. |

Speaking of synthetic lightsaber crystals, the latest preview from the Jedi Academy Training Manual has some info concerning them:
http://www.wizards.com/starwars/downloads/SW_JediAcademy_Preview2.pdf
On a hardcore nerdy note, I've been trying to find info on the types crystals and gems that may form around iron deposits...because I want to homebrew stats on "Mandalorian Iron Gems" (something I totally made up) for my games. |
