Posts: 4 12/19/08 2:46 AM	So I've been thinking a while, what exactly does flow walking give the user the capability of doing? Can they change the past? Here are some of the times where Jacen has messed around with things flow walking #1- Jacen urging Raynar to carry on. Raynar describes that seeing the flow walking Jacen outside his burned ship gave him the will to live. #2- Jacen leaving an imprint at the crash site for Leia - Doesn't change the past but he is able to send a message through time and space to the future. #3- The kiss. This is the big one. Jacen and Tahiri flow walk to see Anakin just before he dies. Tahiri changes the past by having her past self kiss Anakin before he goes off.Young Telki glances at them and Jacen gets nervous. He believes that Telki from the present will recall these changed events. I know Jacen explains that flow walking only changes perceptions of the past in Invincible, but it just doesn't all add up. What do you guys think?

Flow walking into the past isn't going to change the result because the Force will adjust whatever you do that could affect it. If you reread the part where Jacen first took Tahiri flow walking into the past, he already knows that and is keeping it from Tahiri because he's using her by letting her think she can change the past. What Jacen is nervous about with Tekli is that she'll recall seeing them and report it to Luke and the Council. Flow walking into the future can affect what happens which is why Luke warned Jacen about not imprinting himself on the future which he did by sending his message to Leia. That did affect the future. Although it's possible that Luke and company might have found the Myrkr group in some other manner.

Posts: 8601 12/19/08 8:46 PM	Raynar was already in the process of hauling Plo and Welk out. IIRC, he stated something about Jacen's presence "giving me extra strength to go on" or somesuch. Assumedly, Tahiri would now have two sets of memories regarding her kiss. One of the original event which there was no kiss at all and another she would have gained when she finished the Flow-Walk which would spontaneously appear in her memory in which she did kiss Anakin. Assumedly. Which is why Jacen was careful to avoid Tekli. When he and Tahiri returned to the present, the ripples would flow out and Tekli would suddenly recall seeing a much more older Jacen when she was on the wordship. Obviously, she'd tattle to the Council and they'd be all suspcious eyebrows raised and "What is the meaning of this time-tampering?" Flow-Walking can't change the past itself, but it can change one's memories of the past, or more specifically, they'll remember seeing people there who shouldn't have been there (the walkers). One can feasibly change the future if their imprint does something noticeable, like what Jacen did to Leia. Her future was altered and fixed for the moments she stood and conversed with the imprint he left at the Crash. Imagine what could happen, in a wild example, if someone imprinted on the future during a battle, or whatever. You could conceivably do a lot of damage.

What I believe is that these false memories which he is leaving will be realized near-realtime in the future, and therefore effectively change the future. I've studied a lot of cognitive science so I could ramble on about this topic, but I'll be nice and spare you all.
