Are you sure Anakin was knighted only six months before RotS? It seemed like in the Clone Wars miniseries he was knighted very early in the war.

The novel Jedi Trial was his, well, Jedi Trial, and ended with Yoda and Mace discussing promoting Anakin upon his return. According to the timeline included
with all the Clone Wars stuff from that time, the book was set in the thirtieth month after the war began--six months before it ended.
I haven't seen more than the first couple episodes of the miniseries myself, but it seems to me it'd be hard to get any kind of chronological placement beyond references to things in other media (and being referred to in turn).

Fettster wrote: And the next book chronologically, "Yoda: Dark Redezvous" has Anakin and Obi-Wan in a brief scene at the end where Anakin calls Obi-Wan
"Master" and then makes a mental note that as he is no longer a Padawan, he doesn't need to call him that and simply does it because it's a
habit.

Hrm. That seems really odd that they would make the placement like that. The miniseries seems to take place very soon after AotC (I'm not 100% sure as
I've only seen it once), and soon after the start of it Anakin is knighted. Then the rest of the series chronicles events of the Clone Wars. I mean, I
guess there's really no specific timeline for the miniseries, but it definitely seemed to take place over a period longer than six months. Ah, hell, I
could be totally wrong--I'm not even sure what happened in the microseries vs. the miniseries.

I was referring to the miniseries and microseries as the same thing. <_< Do you mean the last few episodes, the ones that were more like 15 minutes long?
Because those, I hear, are the direct lead-in to RotS, based on an early outline of Labyrinth of Evil (and the latter's supposedly the more official source
of the two).

I personally thought the cartoon series did a better job with giving Anakin his knighthood than Jedi Trial. To me the book was kinda "eh". I liked
the scene in the cartoons where Obi-Wan argued for Anakin's knighthood and pointed out each trial that Anakin had met and passed. And then Yoda giving the
final word saying something like although Anakin hadn't met and passed the Trial of the Spirit, he would in an unusual way.
About Anakin calling Obi-Wan master: I think it was Stover who explained that Anakin was using master because Obi-Wan was a master of the Council, not because he was still Anakin's master. |

Meh, Obi-Wan got promoted to Master shortly into the Clone Wars already; don't Knights typically call Masters "Master" anyway?

The first "season" of the miniseries does take place shortly after the movie.
Anakin's knighting is only actually seen in the miniseries, but that's season two. The second season opens with a bunch of random scenes of Anakin doing heroic stuff and getting knighted eventually, but as I recall, the exact timing of that, although not explicitly stated, is definitely before the bulk of season two, which as mentioned, serves as a lead-in to RotS.

Yes, it is. The one that should be coming in 2011, I believe.

I didn't think it was even confirmed as post-LotF yet, though I could be mistaken.

it was a miscommunication that it would be Post-Legacy, hence the thread landed here.
since we still don't know whether it really will be, here the thread stays.

I imagine it will either be Post-LOTF or will be set in that time period around when Fett left Sintas.

I've been thinking about this book (and it's awesomeness), and I've come up with some thoughts.
- It'll probably be post-LotF, but I wouldn't be surprised to see flashbacks. Fenn Shysa was heavily name dropped in Traviss's LotF books, as well as Order 66. I think they're building to that moment where we finally learn what happened between the two of them that left Fett as Mandalore. - We probably won't learn much, if anything, about Fett in the time between AotC and ANH due to the live-action television show. - If this is post-LotF, we'll have Sintas fallout on a larger scale. Also, huge fallout from the nanovirus. - Do we know the origins of the Imperial Knights? Perhaps a failed Mandalorian attack on either Jagged Fel or other Imperial leadership brings about the birth of an order than can provide adequate protection? Personally, I'd like to see Fett give up on being Mandalore and return to bounty hunting. Unfortunately, it seems pretty unlikely now given that he's got a pseudo-family. But you know, Fett is still an insanely smart guy. I think it goes without saying that we can expect witty quips, badass leadership "skillz," and a renewed hate for Jedi. I only hope that if this book is post-LOTF, there is fallout/aftermath of the nanovirus attack, and Fett happens upon some Imperial Moffs who get totally
pwzzned.
Apart from that, sorry, Boba (our Boba) I don't really care for this novel. I also hope that nothing Skywalker or Solo appears in this novel. I also agree that if kind of needs to deal with whatever it was that occurred between Fett and Shysa. That is a must, if nothing else. |
