So I'm wondering what this "massive political event" is that happens in Destiny. Going off of the blurbs, it does not *seem* to be any
type of seccession from the Federation, nor is it the Federation splitting into two overall factions. Apparently.

That's the NX-01 Enterprise firing at Suliban and it's nothing close to what the final cover looks like.Well, that it explains it. I thought I was finally seeing the official cover. I forgot there was a pre-cover sent around that they've since rejected. However, if that was a possible cover, it still speaks volumes about what COULD be in Destiny book 1. |

I don't think it ever was a possible cover... all the commentary I ever read implied that they were pretty damn surprised when it just kind of appeared

This is a fairly awesome site for the behind the scenes look at Battlestar Galactica, but I thought Acky would appreciate the story two posts down -

While I feel let down because I thought this would be VOY book news, this will do. |

I apologize, this is our catch-all Star Trek topic - but even as I posted this, I recognized it wasn't 'Lit' news.

I am in the process of reading those excerpts as I report that I have just pre-ordered both Greater than the Sum and Kobayashi Maru. I'm
getting pumped...

Read Places of Exile excerpt. Words cannot contain the brilliance of this. Acky - READ THE EXCERPT NOW.
Singular Destiny... Love the broken jigsaw imagery... don't know what to make if the city landscape... Guess this raises more questions for me
than anything.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this title, adore this author. Should be good.
This sounds so badass I don't know if I can adequately comment on it without resorting to l33tspeak. Although I would prefer that they swapped the
Mirror Universe with someone else... Orions perhaps? I just feel like the Mirror Universe is getting more overexposure at the moment than it warrants.
This is where I lose all sense of maturity and ramble incoherently. Moreso for the first book in this entry but ZOMG a second VOY book in the space of a few
months. And awesomeness personified: THE ROMULAN WAR. Though where is Andy Mangels?????? Huh? WHERE?

First off - WOOT! Thanks for sharing Acky.
I will give an aside thumbs down to LFL - we can't even get confirmation from you that you've renewed the license with Del Rey, let alone a list of upcoming novels? Good for Pocket/Trek for being so completely on the ball with this. I'm much more amped for their line up because of it.
ENTERPRISE: THE ROMULAN WAR
STAR TREK DESTINY: MERE MORTALS You know what I love about this cover - it's so very SCIFI. It looks like a 'real' (non media based) science fiction cover. Not
that Trek isn't scifi, but it's got a very hard core scifi novel cover. A Singular Destiny 's cover is interesting - I don't love it
but I don't hate it. I like the Voyager cover, but that Vanguard cover may be my favorite - I don't even read that series, but the covers are awesome.
STAR TREK CRUCIBLE
STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION - LOSING THE PEACE
Two Titan, two Voyager, two DS9, two Vanguard in '09 - I'm damn near shocked and awed. Voyager are the only two I'm likely to get - but damn, fans of each of those series of novels have little to complain about - heck there's even a NF book coming. Considering what a fiasco '07 turned out to be for Trek Lit, and how back-end loaded '08 is - I think they've got a pretty good balance for next year. Like I said, I'm pretty excited by this line-up. I may even have to go back and try some of these other series (again, or for the first time).

NICE!
I just snagged some new Trek books at my used book store the other day (Serpents Among the Ruins and Vanguard #1: Harbinger) and was sorely tempted to buy Titan #3: Orions Hounds and Enterprise: The Last Full Measure. Seeing that blurb above drives my desire to read that next Titan book even more. And that's not to mention the fact that I've still got Greater Than the Sum to pick up, and Kobashi Maru coming out VERY soon. It's just hard to justify all these purchases when I've got such a tremendous amount of backlog on books to read. |
