Considering that I thought TFU was supposed to be the new Shadows.
Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. The Force shall free me. |

And you'd really think they'd be trying to pimp TFU.I agree and am now very mystified as to why they would leave out the fiction panel. They don't even have to talk about Invincible or MF. With TFU, Mindor, Coruscant Nights, etc coming out , they have plenty to discuss if they wanted to avoid it. Oh well, here's to hopign they sneak in some more info or previews of TFU or Mindor or something during the program. Does anyone know if DH will have a panel? I know they will be there but last year they had a booth and booksignings instead of a panel. |

Thanks for posting this. To put a positive spin on the lack of panel, at least they will be there and sometimes they have early copies of issues yet to be
released.

It's a shame they're not having a Lit panel at SDCC (though you never know what might still get spilled at the Clone Wars panel) - especially
considering how much new Star Trek Lit news came from their recent convention. I was hoping this would be the time we'd get the new announcments from LFL
about the contract continuation with Del Rey and what the future plans are. I'm shocked at how badly LFL is handling this, and while it certainly looks
like they're running scared after some fan fall out from Invincible - they were screwing this up well before Invincible came out.

I was reading the schedule for Friday July 25 (Star Wars day) and it mentioned they will have the clone wars panel or whatever that is and they will also have
time alloted for everything "big" happening in SW in 08'. I am guessing this will cover anything assoicated with Lucas Film (including TFU) as it
will also talk about the future of Indiana Jones. I will post anything I find out. Although I will not be getting home until late so jaina will most likely be
the first to give everyone a SW comic con summary/update as she is really good at getting to it right away. Either way, whatever is announced at comic con will
be posted.
I do think DH is selling itself short by not having their own panel. I will have to e-mail Stradley and ask him if it is DH's choice to not have or they just weren't given one (unless someone already knows the answer to that then please feel free to post it). But I still agree that DR should have had their own panel especially after Denning canceled his interview. Oh well, they know that we as the fans know they messed up royally. I think they are hinging things on MF. It wil be a wait and see for DR until then.. |

And then you get into these fanciful conspiracy theory tirades. It's absolutely pathetic, and I'm ashamed that we as fans have fallen so far. Here's a shocking bit of news: there are people on this board who actually enjoyed Invincible! But I guess those people now have their opinions relegated to "not worthy" in your eyes, because guess who else enjoyed Invincible? Del Rey. And we've all seen how you've treated them in the myriad posts made about them. And X, this isn't directed specifically at you, although I quoted you. This applies to many people throughout the board.

Oh good lord man, please, please get off your soapbox!
Does this type of rampant criticism make you feel better, or something? Because I, for one, and getting sick and tired of it. If this kind of negativity is going to permeate the board throughout the next few releases until you find something you like, I'm not going to stay around and wait for it. I'm at the point where I'm ashamed to call myself a Star Wars fan. I would agree with you if most of the negativity was baseless but it's not. The vast majority of people that have had problems with Invincible
have also stated numerous times, at great length, why exactly they felt it was not a good novel. And to my knowledge, there were few personal attacks
against Denning or DR on this board, so please stop acting like people were just spewing negativity around without any substance.

It's not just here either, check out TFN or EUCantina and see how opinions about Invincible have run. I don't think anyone has relegated anyone else's opinion to "not worthy" either. You have your opinions about the book and I have mine. We both have the right to voice those opinions, whether we like each others or not. And seriously man, have you met to the pot and the kettle yet? Because you complaining about other people's opinions, is just as wrong as someone complaining about yours. |

You're trying to lump what I said into people bashing Invincible, and while I don't agree with most things
people say about it, I also really don't care.
My problem is when people go BEYOND the text, and start bashing the publisher without any real insight. Are people pretending what is going on at DR/LFL?
Absolutely. I can't tell you how many posts I've seen about "Denning cancelled his interview because he knows the fans are pissed at him" or
this current bullshit about why Del Rey doesn't have a booth at Comic Con. But don't give me that crap that all you've seen is
"speculation" of damage control. You people have been preaching that this is damage control. And hell, you
assume that they are damage control tactics IN YOUR RESPONSE POST. You have no business assuming, because you don't know
anything.

Do me a favor and re-read my post. Then read it again. While I re-read your post, please re-read mine: ITS NOT BASELESS NEGATIVITY! Let me quote myself here: I would agree with you if most of the negativity was baseless but it's not. I referenced Invincible because criticism towards that book is what seems to have gotten your panties in a twist. The first time when I said something about there not being a fiction panel and again when xwingury said something simmilar. And hell, you assume that they are damage control tactics IN YOUR RESPONSE POST.My opinion about DR's response to Invincible was exactly that, an opinion. I never claimed it was otherwise. Therefore it is my own personal belief about something, to which I also provided logical justification for and which you did not. You have no business assuming, because you don't know anything.Give me a break. Unless you work for DR then you don't know anything either. Unless one of us is secretly Sue, our opinions are of equal value. And just to be clear, are you saying that speculation of any kind shouldn't happen on a message board? If so, you need to go and delete about 70% of the posts here. People like you are what bring down the integrity of otherwise great Web sites.Let me tell you this, and please get this straight. I really don't care what your opinion of me is. But unlike you, I don't go around trying to police these boards. I am not a mod and neither are you, maybe you need to remind yourself of that. |

AladelAngel wrote:The criticism toward Invincible isn't what gets me worked up, it's the fact that you all use Invincible as your reasoning for anytime Del Rey farts. I care because I don't come to NJOE to read ignorant and negative posts. If I wanted to do that, I'd call TF.N my home. Frankly, I've had about as much as I can take. With the exception of the "Fan Creations" board, I currently have no plans or desires to post in or read any other Star Wars related boards here at NJOE. And that sucks, because as much as I love interacting with enlightened fans like MNA, I refuse to read the garbage to catch up on what they have to say. I'm posting because people are tired of constantly hearing negative things being said. And for the most part, they don't speak up. They just leave. And they don't come back. I should know, because that's exactly what I did at TF.N. I just got fed up, and left. And if this kind of attitude is going to keep from now until MF gets released, I won't be the last to get excise the Star Wars portion of NJOE from my posting.

I'm done discussing this and this will be my last comment in this thread, but let me just say again - what I said about DR not having a panel and what
xwingury said were opinions based on logical evidence - we never claimed they were anything else.
I have the right to express my opinion and so do you. And if you don't want to be exposed to all the "negativity" on this board (negativity, I will say again, that has largely died down), then that is your problem. |

Any chance you guys could take the fighting off of here, at least to PMs? Because we're here trying to learn what's happening at Comic-Con, not who
dislikes one another and their opinions. Sorry if I'm a little out of line, but this discussion is really messing up the thread for the rest of us.

Whoa...okay...this got out of hand in a couple of hours. I am not going to go back and cut and paste and pick apart conversations. But first, boba, I did read
at the bottom of your first post that it was not fully directed at me and I appreciate it. But, there always is one, I don't appreciate you also making
assumption about me and anyone who is criticial about Invincible. Being critical does not mean I hate star wars and I never once said I hated SW or Denning.
And you mentioned Nom but if you have read any of the other threads you would know that nom is also a major critic of Invincible.
What I stated was my opinoon and I will apologize for making too much of a generalization but there is no reason why this should have tunred into a huge rant (on both sides). I made this thread to be about comic con...not anything else. If anyone has a grievance post a thread or PM me if you want too but don't turn this thread into a fight. It is uneccessary and if it goes back in that direction I will ask acky if he thinks it would be a ood idea to monitor this thread more or temp. close it down until comic con. I don't want this to degenerate further and maybe I am making it worse by commenting but I feel obliged to say something since it was my comment that sparked this whole thing off. So with that said, yes Star wars has its own day
If you go to the official website and look at Fridays schedule it will say Star wars day is Friday. It has been for a few years now. Which is why this is the day I get my ticket. And DR has always had a panel which is why I (yes assumed) I said what I did. This is the first time in a couple years they will be curiously absent. It could be any reason but while they won't be there, DH will still have their booth and there are 3 major events scheduled at comic con for star wars. It is awesome because it is just a bunch of fans in one room. It also gives sneak peeks and last year I was in the room full of people who got to see the clone wars trailer first befroe it was officially released. Wicked cool

I'll just say I doubt feelings about the last novel have much effect on anything Del Ray or the Authors are doing thats not what happens in that business.
Comic Con has grown steadily over the last 5 years and its not because of Star Wars, they may not have the room anymore. With everyone going to Comic Con to pimp their show, film, comic, and books space is limited. I'd love to go to Comic Con some time, this year would be great with films like Watchmen and The Spirit, clearly The Dark Knight will be talked about. Shows like Heroes and Smallville as well. I doubt I'd go anywhere else if I went

If anyone goes to the Karen Traviss/Gears of War panel, I'd love to get confirmation on the timeframe of the novel she's working on (i.e. is it a
prequel to the original game)?

Of course Star wars is not the reason for comic cons success. It was never stated otherwise. It is just a matter of perception on whether one believes why DR
is or isnt there which doesn't really matter anymore as like you said rogue, there is so much more being offered there. Besides, SW has 3 big events and I
know they will have a lot to talk with or without DR there.
