Posts: 3880 07/05/08 1:28 PM	Yes, I was being sarcastic. While I like Traviss's writing style & her plots, I can't stand her Mando worship or the good clone/bad jedi concept in the RC series. I think it's rediculous, especially as it is personified in the attittude of Barden Jusik. I find his rationale regarding the Jedi use of the clones slightly incomplete to say the least.

CLONE WARS, the hardcover based on the movie - loosely based, so no griping that it's different, because that's the whole point - is out on July 26. Full of the gritty, off-message, character-testing, question-raising, grey-area, military-oriented stuff you've come to expect from me. And clones. Plenty of clones. And familiar characters from the movies that you won't see quite the same way ever again. Well, that's exactly what I was hoping for. I may be the best novellization after Stover's ROTS

Posts: 1702 07/10/08 9:01 AM	Not worth it to me to fork out money for the hardcover but I will definitely read this in the bookstore and if I like it, buy the paperback when it comes out. I am glad that she will not be "dumbing" down the plot of the book for younger readers. The only person who I know that can write well for the younger set and still get away with great, intricate storytelling is Jude Watson IMO.

The only Karen work I enjoyed so far is Boba Fett: A Practical Man and her LOTF novels, especially Revelation, but I dont have much feeling for her Republic Commando works. Actually, for the OT novelizations, I quite enjoy ROTJ. I duno whether Shadows of the Empire count as one, but it was my first EU experience and such a good read really motivated me to read on (and so my next was Thrawn Trilogy). "Your time is over! (Although he did omit some large scenes like the direct description of Operation: Knightfall and Order 66) The Dooku duel, Grievous duel, Mace duel and Yoda duel was so well written that it is one of the novel with the most lightsaber dueling details. And I LOVE the audio recording between Mace and Palpatine, and all the EU reference in the book, which seldom appears in movie novelizations. "Your time is over! The Sith rule the galaxy!
