Hmmm...I just read Force Heretic Remnant (aka - The ruins of Coruscant ) I just don't see why the german translation came up with Coursant...it should be
the ruins of Bastion

I love the German titles...they are so...funny.
Daala Count- 20 and counting ****************************************************** Then the forlorn look left her face, replaced by a slight smile. "After all, everything I tell you is a lie." Jacen cleared his throat. "That is an interesting turn of phrase." *********************************************** "You'll send a skiff?" Caedus fumed. "Tenel Ka, you can't believe I'm going to surrender- to you or anyone else." "I am hoping you will," Tenel Ka's voice was sad but firm. "because it is going to break my heart to open fire on you." ************************************************* Hapans Rule All. *************

Why Ben......just why?
But I admit that Anankin and the Yuuzhan Vong is...well, lame.Sometimes there is no direct translation from one language to another. You do the best with what you got. I'm glad to see you here FacingDestiny. Please don't let Ben be the metric by which you judge our board, I beg you. I lived in Mainz from 85-87. I was stationed at Lee barracks. I think I recall Saarbruecken not being too far away from us. Thanks for translating the titles and I hope to see you around the board. Your attacks go too far, Bentwin.

Yes, too far.
But on the other hand if I try to translate some of the English titles literally into German they sound ridiculous too.Yes, and I think culture also has an impact. Some things in English wouldn't sound good translated to German, and vice versa. There are some things that just don't translate. Try translating the meaing and phrase: "You're driving me up the wall" as in
"You're driving me crazy." It's pretty hard to translate while keeping the meaing. And I'm pretty sure the true is same going the other
way.
You know, its kind of sad that if I were to mention the discussions that go on here to somebody in the real world, they would call me crazy as well as
obsessive and a complete geek/nerd/whatever. Then I come here and discover that I'm way out of my league. Especially when people recall details that I
don't even remember....

I do Spanish, so there are definately some things in English that don't make sense in Spanish, and vice versa. In Spain and Portugal they say they are
going to 'take sun' while in America they call it 'tanning'.

Thanks to all of you for standing up for me. I really appreciate that. Fortunaltely I'm not taking such comments seriously. Every nation has dark chapters
in its history (I should know as I happen to have a Master in Historical Science). We sure know our own. And I don't think Ben meant to attack me
personally.
@rev: You're right, Saarbruecken is not so far from Mainz. And it's even less far from the air base in Rammstein. In this southwestern region of Germany the American presence is still very tangible. My parents live in Zweibruecken where the Americans were once stationed too. The street where they have their house is called Georgia Street, right next to Oklahoma Street

The street where they have their house is called Georgia Street, right next to Oklahoma StreetLOL. My mother grew up in a town in Iowa called Westphalia. There wasn't a non-German name in the town & only three non-Catholics. My mother once told me I was related to every Langenfeld in the state. And thanks for being such a gentleman. You're a class act. |

My parents live in Zweibruecken where the Americans were once stationed tooThe name is familiar but I'd probably have to Google it to jog my memory. I lived off post in the city of Mainz. Man I loved it. I rented a room at the end of Nahe Strasse that overlooked the Rhine. The room was small and cramped but the view was breath taking. I'd love to go visit again someday to appreciate all the things I saw that I was too young to appreciate. It's a really beautiful country and I enjoyed my time there very much. I've derailed the thread a bit though. Back to death scenes. I liked jar jar's the best. At least I know I will once it's written. Carry on. No way. I don't want to see Jar Jar ever again. Not even as he dies
Suddenly Jacen could see his challenge, and the prospect terrified him. He would have to kill those he most loved. He would have to kill Tenel Ka and his
precious daughter, his Allana. The fact that even the thought of it was tearing out his heart was the terrible proof that it had to be so.
And still he could hardly bear think it. The Yuuzhan Vong thought they knew all there was to know about inflicting pain, but they were beginners compared to this. How could he even think it? Jacen put his right hand to his face and touched it, as if it weren't his own. He felt as if he were standing over by the far wall, watching himself die by degrees. Is it me? Is it really my burden? Yes, Grandfather. It's me. Jacen accepted the burden in its entirety, and his heart- irrelevant, fragile, expendable- broke. ______________________________________________________________________ "Something to remember the next time you decide to play the Hapan game of bloodletting and backstabbing." Last time I checked, this thread was about awesome and sub-par deaths in the EU and more specifically, LOTF. Kindly move all discussion of your familial and
patriotic histories to a more suitable place, such as Lando's Lounge. Thanks.

I loved watching Jar Jar's death scene. Covered in Kaminoan saber darts... priceless.
