I can't myself believe that the question of Jacen's redemption would get answered in Legacy. I just don't see it happening. It could be answered
either as a infodump from Force Ghost Luke who could compare his junkie descendant to Jacen, or as an appearance by Jacen himself, and the possibility of the
latter is in my opinion very close to zero. About as close as physicists get to absolute zero temperature in laboratory experiments. The former can't be
totally closed out, I admit that, but it just seems unlikely to me at the moment.

My reasoning for this is as follows: Cade's total disregard for following in Luke's and Kol's footsteps he does things his own way and while I
really like that about his character at times he does need guidance. Guidance that he isn't going to find from the two perfect examples of how the outside
world judges the perfect Jedi. Nat will probably tutor him for a little bit but I feel that Nat's days are numbered. If there is one force ghost that can
reach Cade to the very core of his being it is Jacen. A rising star in his own time that fell far to fast. But the main reason why I really do think that
Spirit Jacen will be introduced is that he would almost perfectly fulfill the teacher/student paradim introduced by Vergere in the NJO. How's this for a
retcon Vergere trains Jacen to embody the Force in TUF which leads to a desire to reach that point again, almost like an intoxicant, he eventually falls to the
the dark side and is killed by his very own sister, his love for Allana redeems him at the very end. Flash forward 90 some odd years later to Cade, a drug
addict who can't compete with the larger than life shadows created by Luke and his father. Because of Jacen's own experiances with life and shadows
cast by famous parents Jacen can relate to Cade. So in a way Jacen becomes the teacher to a student who is very much like Vergere. A Jedi who's not really
a Jedi and a Force ghost who once tasted perfection.
Plus in a roundabout way if Jacen were to train Cade than both Krayt and Cade will have both learned from Vergere in a way. |

But why Jacen? Wouldn't more likely Force Ghost mentor for Cade to be Anakin Skywalker? They already did him as a halluzination of Cade's - why
wouldn't they opt for the real thing now? His inclusion would probably be a good marketing trick, and as DH is launching new Clone Wars comics, they could
even connect those and Legacy through Anakin Skywalker. Jacen, on the other hand, has almost no appearances at all in comics, and might have been killed to a
large extent to get rid of him even in the novels - so why use him?
I would prefer Jacen to Anakin Skywalker, but looking it from the POV of DH folks, there just doesn't seem any reason why they would choose Jacen over Anakin Skywalker. And it would also spoil Denning's beloved ambiguousity, and it's he Ostrander has been in contact with. |

Except for the fact that fans want a Solo to appear. And until the whole issue with Jag and Jaina is resolved Jacen is the only choice right now. Ecspecially
considering the fact that he's dead. Yes Anakin would work as well but I don't think that's who they will use. It's the whole Skywalker issue.
It seems to me that at times Cade buckles under the pressure of that last name and for a brief time Jacen transended the Skywalker lineage.
There's also one other thing that probably came out of John and Troy's collaboration: The intro of the One Sith in the novels. Will it ever be brought up again? Who knows but the last we heard from them they were trying to capture ship. It would be pretty awesome to see the Sith meditation sphere in Legacy. |

Jacen was killed because he was in the way of a Skywalker... And if fans wishes would come true, we would have Anakin Solo back too, in flesh....
 Among other things. Fans hopes come true only when they don't contradict the plans of the
authors, the publishers and LFL. So K'Kruhk yes, Solos no. The only
thing we will get about the Solos in Legacy is the eventual non-revelation that the Legacy Fels have Jaina in their family tree, that's the best we can
expect in my opinion. So, if Cade gets a new mentor, I don't think it will be a Force Ghost Jacen. I don't think we will ever get a Force Ghost Jacen,
either in comics or novels.

This isn't a wish for Jacen to come back I could care less. This is just where I see his path ending up. While I do agree that the only living descendants
of the Solos we will see will be the Fel line I still think Jacen's ghost will make an appearance as a mentor to Cade.

Force ghost Jacen is IMO more likely than Force ghost Anakin Skywalker. I say that only because legacy era is a heck of a long time for a Force ghost to stick
around. There are limits to how long a Force ghost can stay on that "inbetween" plane. That being said, I don't think it likely that Jacen will
show up either. Although I think it's a brilliant idea & would love to see it. Now that DR has killed off Jacen, DH could do it.
And I don't think Anakin's appears was anything more than an hallucination. |

Corax, you make really strong arguments for jacen appearing as a force ghost and if it happened that way, I cannot say that I would mind. But I could care
less either way. DH has proven to do well a with their own characters and storylines instead of bringing other characters in from eras they have not written
about.

I don't disagree I think DH does great with their own characters as well. But a lot of fans want an actual Solo; and for some reason I don't think Han
and Leia will have anymore kids. And between Anakin and Jacen appearing as Force ghosts Jacen makes more sense because he was flawed while Anakin Solo was
pretty much perfect. I don't know for sure if Jacen will be used in Legacy but at the same time I can definately see it being pluasible.

see either of them, preferably both, but I can't see it happening. And if DH folks want less than perfect new mentor for Cade, couldn't Nat fill the
bill?

Nat could fill the role; and I think he will for a time. But I also strongly believe that Nat will die. The only thing I disagree with in your statement is
that fans' wants don't matter to DH. Dark Horse realizes their bread and butter is the fans, something I don't think DR understands. Now don't
get me wrong I don't know what John and Jan are ultimately going to do; but this is a perfect oppuritunity to bring in a Solo without stepping on the toes
of DR.
