), so I propose a thought:
With all the negative feedback received, would a Jacen Solo return ever be possible?
Now I know what you're probably thinking, "ZOMG!????!?!!?!!! How stupid/retarded are you? He's dead, get over it!!!!!" but bear with me for a moment and think about it this logically and first look at the in-universe possibilities.......
A) Spirit Transfer
Jacen had 5 years learning who know's what from just about every force school of thought in the galaxy. Wouldn't a spirit transfer as a technique be possible as one of the things he learned? I mean yeah, I know how it sounds. It smacks of the cries for justice fans had after Anakin Solo died and screamed and raved about how they wanted him back. (Of course if you think about it we kind of did have him back..... sort of. I mean if anyone tells me that it wasn't really Anakin in Traitor I will argue you to the death
. Not
to mention the teasing we got by the authors in LOTF ) But back on topic. "Sure," your're saying, " we cried about Anakin and didn't get
him back, so what makes this different?" That's just it. This isn't Anakin, this is Jacen. I know that
sounds like weak arguement, but that's all the argument I need. If anyone would have learned spirit transfer, you would have to guess that it would be
Jacen. I mean freaking Callista used it for crying out loud, and are you going to tell me that Jacen can't do what
she did? Plus, you don't think that he wouldn't have access to cloning as the Chief of State? So who's to say that he wouldn't have a couple
clones on ice? (Even if there's no real reference to it during the nine books, just remember that there wasn't a reference about Thrawn cloning himself
either during that trilogy, so a retcon wouldn't be as far out of reach as one would think.) I know this sounds far-fetched, but is it that unreasonable?
B) Force Ghost
Ok so he's really dead and I just have to accept it. Fine, I'm an adult I can deal with it. But just because he's dead doesn't mean that his story ends. For those of you who want him dead and to stay dead, or are nauseated/disgusted with the thought of cloning him, I give you another solution: Force Ghost anyone? Out of all the arcane and bizarre techniques he learned, this would have to be the one to learn. Heck, even both Anakins, grandfather and little brother used it (he wasn't a hallucination darn it!), and they never spent as much time as Jacen learning from as many as different places. If there was a way to bring him back, this would be it. It would keep in step with the character of Jacen, and it could be used plot wise. (Can you imagine a Jacen/Jaina meeting? Jaina:"So sorry about stabbing you while you were saving your girlfriend and daughter." Jacen:".....Yeah, thanks a lot Sis.")
Now some real-life possibilities. Here's some questions? Would the powers that be feel that they messed up enough to try and fix this? Would Denning or any of the other two LOTF authors allow it? Is a retcon all that unreasonable? (No if you ask me since LOTF did a wonder on the whole retcon thing).
Here are two solutions I see in order to do the two in-universe possibilities I mentioned above:
We've got Luceno writing what is essentially the 10th book of the series. There's a lot he can do, but one thing is for sure is that he'll probably try to fix the ending and/or soothe the many (me being one of them) fans disappointed with the way things turned out. 1) One of the ways he can do this is by using the techniques described above. Don't think that'll work? Well then how about this? 2) A Jacen clone or Force Ghost showing up in the Legacy era as either a True/Banite Sith antagonist, the true menace facing the galaxy from behind the scenes, or as a ally there to help his great-great-great-grand nephew destroy the impostor Sith.
Ok that's all I've got. I know for a fact that there are going to be a lot of people who dislike or dismiss this topic, but I just felt that it had to be thrown out there as a possible way to fix what I feel was a wrong plot occurrence.
So give thoughts or opinions. Love it or hate it. Just please be civil.
