*Sighs in wistfulness* If only hardcovers here were $17. Hell, I'd be able to buy two copies and ship one to someone in the US and still have money left over as opposed to just buying one copy and keeping it myself with the way hardcover prices have been here the last few years.

Actually, I'd imagine that writing would be one of the few things he could do. It's just sitting at a desk and typing. So if the doctors tell him to avoid strenuous activity and such, what better way to slowly get back to health than by lounging and writing?

I met Aaron at Celebration IV and he told me that he was behind on Fury because he'd had surgery on his eyes and had taken along time to recover from that. He was sitting at the table in the member chat room editing Fury on this little hand held PDA. He was annoyed with himself for being behind, but understandably it couldn't be helped. Now I can't remember but I don't think Fury was pushed back or anything and Celebration was in May while Fury didn't come out until...

Aaron Allston was a real sweetie at the book signing I went to. He seemed like he was really enjoying himself. If he wasn't, no one there knew it.

As for his health issues, while I obviously don't know the particulars, I can generalize from what I know. He had four arterial blockages bypassed so the blood is now freely flowing through his heart oxygenating his body. He's probably got more oxygen going to his brain than I do right now. How much damage to his heart muscle...

To Kirr Mistwelder and Bobakareu, That clears up that issue. I thought it might be along thoses lines...If I were to get in a situation like that I would no doubt feel the same way. Ive had friends that have gone to conventions in search of autographs and have had some of the actors give them negitive responses, And now they don't care for them as much.

That's true, what Kirr says. The only Star Wars author I met that was just flat out rude to me was A.C. Crispin, and I have absolutely no desire to read any of her stuff ever again. I feel like even re-reading the Han Solo books, my view will be tainted. Stover, Zahn, Traviss, Allston, Keyes, and Denning, however, all rock.

To Nom and ramesses, as Rogue said, I was following up on something he had said, where I agreed and said I wasn't that keen on 'meeting' authors. I enjoy reading other people's interviews with them, but at the same time I'm personally not as into making contact myself with them. I've met in person a couple of authors I love, and got kind of an annoyed vibe off the authors in question (like 'I don't really want to be here, meet with people, sign books)....

two points i would like to make the frist is that living in the UK i dont get to see any of the SW authors even if i wanted to the only expection i could think of was if KT did book signing events she might do it in england as she lives there.

I... honestly have no idea where you got that impression from. I know I speak for many members of NJOE when I say that I/we would encourage even more author/fan interaction. And I honestly don't think anyone here has ever said anything along the lines of author/fan interaction leading to a bad novel..???

I can't seem to get my headspace anywhere near what you're claiming.

I noticed a few on here have said that interacting with authors can have a negitive affect on the novel...Do you mean reading interviews? There personality? Questioning them at book sighnings? I stood in line, told timothy zahnn I enjoyed his book and left. I judge a book by content, and writing, and if the story is friggen good! A couple of times the official site has interviewed theses Authors that are constantly being talked about on here, And I tell ya, I for one enjoy hearing there...

Total speculaion here.

I would think Backlash was very close to being finished. I'm not sure if I ever knew what typical publisher's schedules are, but there's editing that needs to be done, ARCs that need to be published, and the final book that needs to be sent to the printer. 6 months out is probably fair, which is June, which isn't very far away. So I would think he was almost done with that book.
