Not really, because if I recall, Jacen was still the logical choice. That's put her in the position of betraying both of their personal desires, for the sake of team. Which, if I recall, is what she did.

I see your point, but I disagree. It's much harder to look someone you love in the eye and then say "torture him" than it is to have someone tortured with the option of passing the blame off to the Yuuzhan Vong.

I think that the scene in The Dark Knight was unrealistic. Large groups of people - mobs would snobs say - can act heroically in desperate situations, but most often when there is little or no chance to survive. When we are in danger, but there is a good chance for us to live if we do something like depicted in the movie, the reptile part of our mind tends to take over, the one which wants to survive at all cost.

One could say that it is in those kind of moments that the Dark Side...

Obviously, killing one to save thousands is not a decision to be made lightly. Killing one to save a thousand would SEEM like the right thing to do. But no one person has the right to make that decision about...

(not advocating this) I know, cliched, but in this case, to use bentwins example, it would be putting nine lives above one. Would that be so bad?

So I find myself having finished Invincible and feeling like crap. Not because I'm feeling sick or anything, but because this book made me feel like crap. I feel like this book not only robbed me of all of my hopes and expectations for this series, and perhaps more importantly, its climax, but that it also took a sharp left hand turn regarding some of the thematic bedrocks that permeate the Star Wars universe.
