I haven't caught up on the Legacy comics yet (so someone more familiar with them can answer this) but is Cade ever shown wielding a distinctive lightsaber that he built himself? If not, I could see him drawing Anakin's saber from the memorial. James Luceno was the one who invented the memorial. Or at the very least, it was decided in committee, but he was the one who first showed it to us.

Many of his novels include Wookiees and a lot actually take us to Kashyyyk.

Kashyyyk got dragonballzed in LOTF, but nobody ever visited the memorial, let alone mentioned it.

Whether for good or ill, Anakin's death had effects that reverberated years past his demise including motivations throughout LOTF. Which MF will bear out as Luke discovers Jacen's 5 year sojourn.

A major oversight on the writing team to leave that out so to us it seems out of the blue as to why he fell without that background info (info we didn't get until the last book).
