British fantasy and science fiction author Robert Holdstock(1948-2009) died today aged 61, from an e. coli infection. He had been ill for week
and a half, but the reports through Ansible on his health seemed promising in the last few days.

In one of the NJO books there was a scene I am trying to recall and I only have a vague memory of it. I remember the character involved was force sensitive but not a jedi. i think he was in either the Senate building or the New Republic Cheif of State's office. He had a force power where he could accelerate his speed tremendously. To him it was as if everything around him were almost standing still. There was some vague mention that Palpatine also had this ability and I remember thinking...

HarperCollins announced the intent to release two new novels by the late Crichton,

The first being "Pirate Latitudes", a historical novel that comes out November 24th. It will detail the story of a pirate named Hunter and the governor of Jamaica planning to raid a Spanish Galleon filled with treasure, circa 1665. The completed novel was found in the author's files after his death.

The second novel, an as yet untitled techno thriller, will be completed...
